Fuck, I hate these glossy computer/tv screens so much. What's up with many people digging them? Is it because they are shiny and people are slaves for shiny things?

Typical conversation between me and glossy screen owner:
Code:
Idiot: "Hey, look, I just bought this laptop with a glossy screen, isn't picture quality on it awesome?"

Me: "No, idiot, you aren't supposed to see any reflections on a screen, reflections RUIN picture quality, don't you get it? It's a screen and not a fucking mirror, the only thing that you should see on a screen is what computer outputs"

Idiot: "But glossy looks better!"

Me: "How exactly reflections ruining picture quality is better?"

Idiot: "Dunno, but it's better!"

Agreed. Nothing worse than trying to work with one of these in a well lit room. Can't see shit.

What are you, nuts? Glossy finish on displays enhances color and contrast. It's reflective only in direct sunlight, when you wouldn't want to use a fucking laptop anyway. Fuck!

I approve of poorleno's message. when you go to a store you will notice that the glossy screens give the best blacks....but using it for it for a laptop kinda sucks.

wait are u ppl refering to glassy protection on LCD laptops/monitors? coz they are easier to clean and harder to scratch, for laptop it's a must have

now big ass plasma tv reflecting everything is a bitch to watch
in general i do hate plasma's, they generate too much heat, consume twise the power and don't look as sharp as lcd's

Stop talking nonsense. Glossy screens are reflective anywhere.
This is pathetic:

anyway my Acer is glossy, I love the dark so its not a big problem. But its not possible to use it outside if the sun is shining.

i don't have to defend anything when it comes to personal preference

i just find it silly reason to bitch about

besides i don't own single glossy/glassy screen, laptop is my gf's and use it only when other pc's occupied

I think the whole glossy screens improve contrast thing is a load of crap. It's just the way you perceive the screen given the lighting condition vs a regular matte panel.

But it's pure preference and totally dependent on screen placement. If i were to put a glossy screen anywhere with windows I'd kill myself.

I hate the glossy screens as well. My laptop has the regular lcd screen (non glossy). Ita a Dell Vostro 1510. I wouldn't buy a Dell but I got it as a gift from mother since she was tired of me taking her laptop to school .

X2

I don't have a problem with either though, I'm typing this on a T61P with a matte screen. I LOVED the glossy screen of my E1705.

I'd never get a monitor with a glossy screen, any reflections from any light source in the room would constantly piss me off. With my Samsung T220 the image is perfectly sharp with a matte screen.
