After I've installed Steam - how can I select where the games are to be installed? Will they automatically end up in the same directory as steam? (Ive got it installed on C: atm but dont want the games to be on that one)

The answer: Hard links. Steam thinks the folder of apps is where it is supposed to be, whereas it actually sits in a different location completely. Use this tool.

I used to use a similar tool a long time ago (XP days), when I used to have all the Source games installed at once. Didn't have a huge disk(s) back then, so it was great.

Not when you use proper tools (like the one I posted above).
