I completely agree, I've played pretty much every MMO since WoW, be it EU ones, American ones or Asian ones...
And this is the only one I've found to be this addicting... It's awesome. I mean, yeah, it has its issues, but the issues are very minor and easily fixed. I like how it's not super easy either, you can die from normal mobs, even if you're careful. And positioning is important in many areas where you'll get a lot of aggro.
The flight system is so damn nice, I can already see its uses for PvP. And it's sooo convenient to just jump of a cliff and glide down, without having to stop and "mount up". And if you want to fly you just take off immediately.
Instant buy from me when it comes out, regardless of it being P2P or F2P, I won't pay per hour though, but that ain't going to happen for us, it wouldn't work. |
What exactly is so great about this one? I mean I checked some youtube beta gamelay vids and it looks like standard Chinese/Korean MMO stuff. You create a char and you are instantly dropped into a world and mindlessly start killing mobs. No story or anything. I played pretty much every MMO in the last 10 years or so, and just don't see what's so great about this one.

Lineage 2 is a good game. Especially back in the day. I honestly like extremely tough MMO's rather then the user friendly cookie cutter garbage that's been coming out to appeal to a broad audience.
Most RPG's now-days speed up the leveling process to the point where it's an after thought and your main goal is the end game. Rather than providing tons of end game content it should be evenly distributed throughout the experience.
That's why I like this game. Even the low level content in all aspects is entertaining to me. It's not, OK let's rush through all this garbage to get to the fun stuff because it's enjoyable as is.

I have lineage 2 on a free server, but frak I just cant get used to the movement lark, I probably would be able to if the avatar when you stopped didnt turn to face me.. I find that very strange.

this game IS good. i've tried tons of mmorpgs and quit most of them at a really low level, this is one of the only games along with WoW that really kept me going, it was fun to play all the time, there are a ton of quests, beautiful graphics, movement is fluid and it just feels like a quality game.

and is about to end for us in about T- minus 3 days lol (if your not chinese that is)
I tried deciphering the payment screens but none of the options make sense, there is a bank order/card area but its nothing like any EU stuff ive seen, and then they got this ppbs thing or whatever that is.. dunno we would need a proper full walkthrough how to pay for it if its even possible as an outsider..

it was what most were finding out yes, but alas no the chinese are going live with it in 3 days on the 16th..
If you watch the GM messages in the middle of the screen, you will see with translation of course (but u can see the 16th in it) that they are saying beta ends 16th april, blah blah blah..
And if you go to the aion chinese site you will see that its officialy announced as well..

That's my impression about this game too. Before WoW every asian MMO tried to be Lineage2, and now every asian MMO tries to be WoW.

Well, my chinese is just a bit rusty and the EN language .pak doesn't help much when it comes to server messages. 
Anyway, it's a shame that the fun will be over sooner. The game is simply magnificent. The music is incredible, the sense of freedom great and the overall gameplay fantastic. The entire game (so far) is a unique fun experience.
Attention to detail and a great STYLE are the main highs for Aion. |

im not lol i was just having a laugh... i have not played it for 2 days now,, its a great game looks nice plays well, but it should be ok its been running in korea a while now so beta or not its not entitrely correct to call it that really.. beta of chinese language testing maybe..
all mmo's are the samey go here do that kill this collect that. im sure what most mean is the way it feels when u play it is alot nicer than some other main stream mmo's... hard to put a finger on it really its prob just a more polished feeling.. Unique probably can be used to a point where its unique the game feels like a good mmo rather than a half arsed rushed out the door one as per norm.

Well, it isn't much new - log in, choose generic fantasy class, enter generic fantasy world, kill monsters and complete quests. Some fans of the genre may have resigned themselves to this being all MMO's should and ever will be about, but personally, I'm extremely tired of the mould and feel there is room for huge amounts of innovation, if financed developers only took some risks and encouraged players to use their brains and imaginations...
That said, for what Aion is trying to do, it does it well, it's a very polished and refined game - wouldn't suprise me if it became the biggest thing on the market since WoW.
Personally though, unlike the masochistic majority, I don't think I can stomach grinding my life away in a theme-park MMO once again - let's face it, you max a character and gear it once you've done it a thousand times...
Call me jaded. I feel I'm just ready for something new and different.

Iindeed it be interesting to see how full the servers get after 16th april though.
My main concern would be paying early to play and in the english legion on clock tower server, just to find out further into the game with pvp and so forth that the lag/ping to chinese servers wasnt cutting it enough..But then again 8 pounds of my money is fuck all to get a legit Chinese adult ID and game time to test out that concern.
