This is an old classic but dam!, I love it. Now I understand where all the cliches from Austin Powers and James Bond comes from.

Quote:
The series follows a British agent who abruptly resigns his job and then finds himself captive in a mysterious seaside "village" whose leader tries to find out why he quit. Throughout the series, the unnamed prisoner, labelled "Number Six" by his captors, tries to escape while defying all attempts to break his will. He also tries to discover for which "side" his captors work and the identity of the never-seen "Number One", who presumably runs the Village. Number Six often thwarts the various individuals serving as the Village's chief administrator, "Number Two." As the series reaches its climax, Number Six's indomitable resistance and mounting blows against the administration threaten the viability of the Village itself, which forces its desperate warders to take drastic action. The series features striking and often surreal storylines, and themes include hypnosis, hallucinogenic drug experiences, identity theft, mind control, dream manipulation, and various forms of social indoctrination. A major theme is individualism versus collectivism.

Apparently there is a remake underway (2009), can't wait!

I am not sure how easy it is to get whole complete series (17 episodes) But I got it over at the Green Daemon Wink.

There has been some other shows using the "theme" from The Prisoner, including The Simpson's.

Very good show i first saw it as a child and was cpativated by it , a few years ago i picked up the dvd boxset and my son watched it and enjoyed it.

Proof that it really is a timeless classic , but im sceptical about a remake , most gems of classic tv and film should be left alone as remakes allways ruin it.

Cheers man, will have a look around!.
EDIT:Got it!!!!. Will take a day or two to finish, but I am in no hurry.
Cheers again for the tip!.

I wonder if Patrick McGoohan ever auditioned for James Bond, he would have been the perfect actor for it, at least 10 times better then Roger Moore.

And he had the perfect accent for it, a true public school educated sort a accent .

EDIT: I knew it!
Quote:
He had already turned down the roles of James Bond and Simon Templar (The Saint) when Lew Grade asked him if he would like to give John Drake another try
So he was one of the top choices for both Bond and The Saint then...Smile.

actually that's debatable
there's no official order like with firefly
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Prisoner_episodes (click the column header to sort by number)
a real purist would only watch the orignally planned 7 episodes, as listed by mcgoohan there
i personally watched them in the order as suggested by 6of1, "the prisoner appreciation society" Smile
but it is really a matter of preference.. as long as the first episode and last two are as they are, order does not really matter that much
