Anyone knows what is the difference between full/square and full/circle in ePSXe gamepad configuration?

EDIT: It's about the analog sticks.

It's the range of motion for the sticks, whether they have square or round housings determines the entire range a stick can move. Classic Sony controllers have full circular motion, so a perfect 360 degree range, whereas some controllers employ a box/square housing, especially some of the older non-xinput/Logitech PC controllers, which means they have more range at the corners than they do directly up/down/left/right, etc.

Example;

Didn't know where to post this since no one reads the handheld section and we talked about the game in this thread anyway i post it here:

Square Enix sends cease and desist letter to FF Type 0 translation group
a full month after it released and was more then 2 years in the works, seriously are those japs nuts ?

You know I normally use blog posts for relevant information only, such as project announcements or releases. However, I’m sorry this time it’ll be a little bit different:

Unfortunately I’m forced to remove my posts and pages related to the popular Final Fantasy Type-0 fan translation project. That’s right, certain game company thinks that threats and false accusations are the way to treat its biggest fans. For the time being I can’t answer questions related to this matter, but I’ll write a more comprehensive post about all this once I get the chance.

I hope you understand, and as always I appreciate your support (that I might need more that ever in the near future). Thank you very much:

We were just talking about this in the "HD" port thread, I'll just ctrl+v my post;

Yup, I have to agree; Square are just bullies throwing their weight around. They *knew* about the translation patch which has been going on for years now, *knew* people were BEGGING for an official translation of the PSP version, yet ignored everything like the shitbags that they are. Then, when they announce the PS4/XB "HD" version of Type0, they shut down the translation project. I'm guessing that Skyrender figured something like this would happen, which is why he brought forward the translation release by several months. Originally scheduled for August, it came out in June. It's all over the net by now, so grab that and give a big "FUCK YOU!" to the greedy bastards at SquareEnix.

~edit~

Web Cache still works;

"Translation information/instructions/download link" - no illegal files, just EN translation.

"ISO merging information and downloads for merging the two UMD ISOs together" - no illegal files, just merge data.

AND! Even though the Skyrender MEGA link still works, I imported the translation patch to my own MEGA link just in case he takes it down. The ISO merge MEGA link has been taken down, but the Mediafire mirror still works - of which I also backed up to my own Mediafire account.

Yup, that's exactly it; they accomplish absolutely nothing except pissing people off. The patch is already out and shutting down a project post-release is about as effect as a chocolate fireguard. However.. there was a comment from someone on Skyrender's post saying that Sky didn't get a "C&D" and that it was "more serious than a C&D" -- so perhaps Square are going right for the lawsuit? :\

Sky's a spaniard as far as i know C&Ds do not exist in spanish law so it must be something else and he said himself time and time again they couldn't stop it well seems like he was wrong.

And please tell me why internet should care about that shitty C&D? Okay, guys from team will have to remove the links, that true. But they still leave forums and description, blog posts. And the translation itself is spread around and nothing can stop it now. It always will be stored somewhere. I have my copy as well.

Square acting like a cunt is nothing new, but it won't change a thing, even they with thei money can't just press "remove fan-translation from internet" button. So in the end it does not really matter. To me, personally.

Drama, drama, drama. Seems SE and the translation team were under NDA "talks" for quite a while before the patch was released and that it was Sky that released it without the knowledge or consent of the rest of the team, who all wanted to wait for "polishing" Regardless of whether he went behind their back or not, the simple fact is; if he HADN'T released the patch last month, we'd have never gotten it. SE's lawyer dogs shutting everything down and throwing their weight around (which is bullshit anyhow, since when does copyright prevent translation?) would have put paid to the August release date.

Either way, more "drama" or not, I'm certainly grateful to the team as it means now I can play it in English without Square-Enix dictating that I buy an XBONE or PS4.

On one hand... not cool to decide to release it without the consent of the other team members, maybe they really were still not happy with their work on it and wanted to improve it.
On the other, they could be expecting some sort of "compensation" from square and were just making time to see if they could get some.

So, all in all, I'm glad that he chose to release it. It's better than no patch at all.
Oh and fuck SE of course Very Happy

EDIT: oh god the copyright knights on the comments... why did I read that shit. Don't worry SE, even after your shit there are people that will drop to their knees in a second Facepalm

Yeah, they're playable in Software Mode now.. but you'll need an insanely powerful system as they run poorly that way. I wish Gabest would fix the GSDx plugin so we could play them in Hardware Sad

Oh they run, you just need an extreme PC for now. My i5-2500k at 4Ghz is *just* about enough for Fallout and Dark Alliance 2 in software mode but even they have drops at times. Both Champions titles as well as Dark Alliance 1 are utterly unplayable though. There was an interesting discussion on the PCSX2 forum last year, a non-dev had actually discovered a few tips/tricks on how to get GSDx working in Hardware mode, it even impressed Rama and Refraction, who started talking about ways to implement and fix -- but.. well.. that was last year and nothing since, so meh Sad

Btw if anyone here still plays some Ps1 games from time to time you really need to try this:
http://ngemu.com/threads/peteopengl2tweak-tweaker-for-peteopengl2-plugin-w-gte-accuracy-hack.160319/

It's a hack for Pete's ogl 2 and it helps a lot with the wobbly texture problems (lack of z-buffer) in psx games it doesn't completly fix it but it's enough to get rid of some of the horrid deformations it causes^^

That looks pretty damned amazing! The one major drawback to the PS1 was its lack of z-buffer, the deformo-texture stuff was quite distracting at times, but that hacked plugin is all kinds of impressive. Shame it only works on PCSX-R though, I'm an ePSXe kiddie through and through, the compatibility is great and the new Shark-patched SPUs are fantastic.

I don't see any difference in compatibilty between epsxe and pcsx-r and they both use the same plugins anyway dunno bout those shark spus im still using eternal spu most of the time . Pcsx-r also has a build in widescreen hack which works pretty well in most games.

That site is a scam, it's bogus. The only "emulator" right now is RPCS3 and it's not even remotely close to being ready. Don't pay any attention to what others might tell you, PS3 commercial game emulation is MANY YEARS away.

No probs Smile It's going to be a long-ass time before we see anything remotely playable (Sonic CD and Disgaea are two commercial games that *boot* right now, but they run at 0.5 to 3fps Laughing) so I'd just put it out of your mind for now. I'm still waiting and hoping for an Xbox emulator .. classic Xbox for some JSR Future and DoA3 action Smile
