careful tho, Smoke mod drasticly reduces performance

Yes. I had to lower my rez

^^ that pc spec and a smoke mod does that ?. That just cant be right can it..

It would slow down when there were tons of units on the screen. It wasn't like a slideshow or anything, but you know how it is I am sure. You get used to games running at a certain speed and you notice when a game slows down. My son will play stuff that feels absolutely fine and I will play the same thing on his machine and it feels sluggish to me.
But yeah. i had to go from 1900 x 1280 to 1600 x 1280 (I think, I would have to look. It was 1600 x something). It stays smooth on that rez and it still looks good.

dont forget to change "campaign_unit_multiplier" back to "1" in preferences.empire_script.txt . It is @ 1.5 if you used earlier darthmod (0.1 at least) and will mess up AI.

you don't need steam
unless you want to use the online features, for which you need the original game anyway

Steam tells you what your friends are playing even if its not a game hosted on steam so long as you launched it through steam. For example if I were to play Dungeon Keeper 2 and you had me on your friends list it would show you that I am playing that game. This is no need for concern as I doubt some guy at valve is secretly watching what game people are playing.

Cracked steam+ blank is safe, revloader/revemu/UCL/Phoenix or any launcher that works for the game is 150% safe. And you don't need to switch accounts etc.

http://store.steampowered.com/stats/

i like the deathmaps here; http://steampowered.com/status/tf2/tf2_stats.php

but if you have your steam off, as in it's not visible in the systray or process list, it can't send stuff directly
empire itself hasn't made any attempts to go online
and i doubt it would cache the data for later

I have to start this one by saying 'and this is why we don't normally put dates on things'.

The patch will now go live tomorrow (29/4/09), rather than today as there have been some last minute technical issues to do with distribution. I should stress the patch itself has been through the CA, SEGA and external Beta group test phases and has done well, so we don't expect any hitches with the code itself. That said we're unable to bring it you this evening due to a technical problem with uploading/distribution.

My apologies to those of you who have cancelled appointments/meetings/dates/operations/weddings as a result of this change, this upgrade will make a genuine difference to the way Empire plays and of course address it's stability issues.

Kind regards,
Kieran

I bought this and have given up on it.
I'll never be buying a total war game again, It's just to much of the same as the previous ones, not alot new in it.

haha, about the same thing happened with 1.2 for Medieval 2, cept around 3-4 weeks later i just sold my copy (some of the delay had to do with it, but my main gripe was the lame multiplayer options in the game).

and yea, i wouldnt buy another Total War game.

They could have just uploaded to filefront or fileshack. Seriously if your distribution method sucks, look elsewhere.

I knew it! The same thing was with Medieval Total War 2 , many weeks and months waiting for patches. I've lost my patience. I hope they go to hell for this. Evil or Very Mad

Well, whoever might of been in charge of sorting it all out, it does take time no1 can deny that, but what I've gone off in these games is there isn't enough change in the game, same old as in Medieval total war 2 Sad
