The one thing besides the terrible graphics that i'm not enjoying about this game is how small it feels. The game is actually smaller then the first game. In the first one, New York city was pretty huge. In this one, New York is like a small ass town. Sure, you travel to other cities - But they all are fucking small. In the original it took quite a while to actually take over every business and travel from one end of town to the other. Now, it takes less then 10 seconds to travel from one end of new york to the other. Pretty big let down IMO.

First impressions : It's better then Godfather 1 but you can hardly call that an achievement. It's still a seriously crappy game but that's what I initially thought of Scarface as well, and that turned out to be a very amusing game.

Interesting bug. I destroyed the Manganos' warehouse on that island, and after that, all traffic had dissapeared. I can sometimes find a few set of wheels in a parking lot, but all AI driven cars are completely gone. I'll try a restart, maybe that'll help, but this makes getting around a bit tedious.

wierd bug on my game, the talking to characters seems to always skip one of the options (I see it very very quickly flash) then I cant choose another option to talk about untill I press escape then go back into the game then itll let me select an option. strange.

I don't remember much about the first Godfather, except it seemingly was interesting enough to last for one playthrough... I doubt I'll finish this one tho, everything just seems so simplistic and outdated at its core. Some might like it and that's ok, but not a game for me.

my few gripes
*the controls feel clunky, and something about the character position feels out of place somehow.
*Major popins, you dont see damage decals unless your 2 feet away from the enemy, the bulletproof vests just magically appear on enemies when there 12 feet away, car windows go from opaque to transparent a few feet away, and the general lod is a very very small radius. (and yes Im on highest settings)
*arcady driving (though not always a bad thing) yet turns are really unresponsive
*new york is about 12 ft squared, and the other cities are really just the size of small towns
*the don screen is cluttered, far far far too much micro management for this type of game. "your business is being taken over" ok is it? right let me just go through 20 different screens in the don map and see if I can pick it out.
*repetative gameplay, just take over, take over, take over.
*no real AA option, just a blurry console cover up shader thing.

I think they recycled animation from Dead Space(same engine, no?). They way your character is centered, moves, holds the pistol and aims is identical to the way Isaac hold the first weapon you get.
Maybe it's just me...

not even with the handbrake (left-shift) ?
and yeah, the gameplay gets monotonous a bit quick, but it's ok if you don't play it for too much without a break.

well... i guess i will wait for mafia 2 to play good gta mafia clone.
i am not surprised that the game is crap..traileres looked bad during the development , but...there is always a hope that the final product will be good, but..it is just a hope lol.
i guess there are people who like this one ..all the strategy elements, but this is not for me.

it's a cheap game, and by that I don't mean price but production values, technically it's outdated and cheap, but then again they didn't work on it that long, only had few months so I guess that explains the animation recycling, really small cities (what a joke) and bad graphics but it doesn't justify it.
but if you can get over this, there's some joy in it somewhere

After watching my brother play for a couple of hours, I must say the game isn't that bad. I mean, polish it up a lot and you can have an actual marketable game.
As it is now, it's just cheap.
Me and my brother were laughing our asses off with how small the cities are.
We were making jokes about how the game tells you to call someone, but it's actually the pay phone that's ringing. I mean, how does Michael know which phone is nearby?!
Well, considering the size of the cities, he's probably just looking out his window and going, ah there he is across the street, let's give him a call.
Man, the size is just so hilariously bad.
