Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, today announced its plans to launch a new Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six opus on PlayStation®2, Xbox® and PC during Spring 2005. The game is being developed by two of Ubisoft's award-winning studios: Red Storm Entertainment, the maker of the original Rainbow Six, & Ubisoft's Montreal Studios.
In this new episode, you lead Team Rainbow, the world's most elite counter-terrorist unit, as they are called into action and unfamiliar territory to battle a bioterrorist threat. Stakes escalate as they are personally targeted by an evil terrorist organization. Used to protecting the lives of others, Team Rainbow must now embark on a mission to fight and save some of their own.
The next Rainbow Six installment will build on the ingredients that have made the Rainbow Six® franchise a runaway success, and will introduce new single player experience with a personal darker storyline, state-of-the-art equipment, and offer gamers the chance to play as two members of Team Rainbow: Ding Chavez, the fearless leader of Team Rainbow, and a new sniper role portrayed by Dieter Weber, who must cover his team's movement with deadly accuracy.

FINALLY, i´m such a rainbowsix freak omg. OMG THIS IS A HAPPY DAY.
LOL the screens scared the shit out of me, but then i saw it came from the PS2, *starts breathing at a normal rate* I wonder which engine the game will use.

Rainbow 6 and Rouge Spear was good games, unfortunally i cant say the same about ghost recon.
realy hope it will be like the first game where u realy had the team feeling and was realy close combat.. |
I think Ghost Recon is one of the best games evar, but hey thats just me  |

i dont like ghost recon at all but i liked RS3 even if it was annoying as hell. swat 3 was a nice game and i hope swat 4 has a better online community because it took me like 40 mins get it connected and then only a few people were playing  .

Well i hope they will not screw up RS4 like they want to do with the 5 cause if RS5 is still going the way they started it...Ubisoft will kill the RS series for good.

its a great game no questions asked but its more delta force then rainbow6...
what game is RS3? is that raven shield?
(if so its the only one i havnt played..)
anyway just hope they dont make RS4 to open, rainbow games are supposed to be close combat..
that doesnt mean it cant have missions like attack a hijacked airplane (cause those are cool.. )
and very funny to play...

i agree, from these screenshots and the teaser trailer the game doesnt even look remotely like the rainbow 6 series--which were all fantastic games up to and including ravenshield on the pc(didnt play the xbox ones). the screenshots give the impression of a 'run n' gun' shooter with just bare tactical elements. its too bad because the rainbow six games stood alone in their realistic 'one shot, one kill' and absolutely necessary teamwork type of dynamic(i love how they say 'this time, its personal' on the trailer--so typically hollywood). unfortunately by crossing over into the consoles i guess its mandatory that it becomes less realisc, sad to say. also the old close quarters combat of the originals built up a tension that will be hard to beat. its too bad another series loses its unique edge to sell more copies.

Wait till you see what they want to do with Rainbow Six 5...now you will be super pissed. RS5 will kill the serie!

Face it, the tactical genre is dead, it died when all games had to be ported to xbox to make any profit.
And when games started being ported to xbox, or even worse, codeveloped for xbox and pc at the same time, things went really sour.
Consoles normally demand easier entertainment than hardcore PC games, you have to be able to play fast and easy, this phenomena might kill a whole genre off eventually.

My friend and i just beat Rainbow Six 4 on PS2 as tester and theres nothing new...same old stuff to do. In some point you can have 2 guns in your hands but they just tried to add something "catchy"...pretty useless. Theres a few sniping missions but the mode is awfull...hope the will fix it for the final release cause its totally boring. Theres 16 missions to do in different part of the world...the usual.
The GFX on PS2 sucks...Xbox looks way much better for what we tested.
They are suppose to add 2 or 3 maps exclusively for PS2...who cares...everybody know Xbox live will own PS2.
So with what we've seen on Xbox, we can say that the PC version will have great GFX.
