another update
[-]March 26, 2009 - Empire: Total War Update Released
Updates to Empire: Total War have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:
Empire: Total War
Issue with save games disappearing from the save game list if fixed
Updated of the Miles dll to fix some random crashes in sound

I'm not defending my purchase I simply love the series and personally think they deserve the sale. I fully understand and accept that you may think otherwise. I've only had a few problems with the game personally a random crash on single player very rarely and once in a blue moon my long rifle men refuse to turn around in battle for the remainder of the battle... But I'm sure that will be fixed soon speaking of which a patch just downloaded as I was typing this.
Also if possible try multiplayer if you can with hamachi its damn fun.

Imo game right now is worth buying for mp and road to independance campaign. Both are well done and quite fun. If you want to be playing only main campaign, its better to just play pirated version and wait if they succesfully patch/mod it.

They are great - but I wish the game wasn't so dependent on them. While installation is no-fuss when compared to other titles like Fallout 3/Oblivion, its still a pain in the ass always wondering whether you have the latest version or whether the new patch fubarred the mod.
It really is embarrassing on CA's part that they had 3 "full time" AI programmers, yet the vanilla AI isn't even capable of landing forces via ship? How could they let something like that slip through?
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

The prophet version works a lot better than razor's version.
Also, i played a mission on road to independence and after the bettle a tab was opened which was showing the statistics in battle and the strange shit is that i appeared with my steam accoun there and avatar . How the fuck ?

I use the prophet release with the original JBeckman files + revloader + all later patches. Working fine.

That's what he meant to say:
Genuine Steam account + Steamworks based cracked game = not good/risked Steam account.
It's recommended to: buy the game, create another (empty) account just for this purpose, quit playing Steamworks based cracked games or uninstall Steam.
