I just flashed my BenQ from 1.5 to 1.51 for this, so lets hope it is better than that crappy Aerosmith release.

Alright, here is my short review, I played about 15 songs on Hard and just started from the top:
I really really love how the note charts play. This is always the big advantage for me that Guitar Hero has over Rock Band and that makes it alot more fun in my eyes. Even the songs I hate are really fun and diverse to play. Sure all the Hit-Ons/Pull-Offs are unrealistic, but what do I care, I already play on a fisher price guitar, I don't want "realism". So piss of you Rock Band fanboys.
It is a lot more challenging on Hard than RB, and this is what makes it fun, haven't tried Expert yet, but I am sure I wont be disappointed.
Now on the bad side you have the songs. The game suffers from the same problem GH: Aerosmith had: Just waaay too much feature band (in this case Metallica). Of course this is to expect, and all the great Metallica songs are in there, but I think we can all agree that not all their songs are pure gold. The whole song selection seems a bit too much on the heavy side, a bit of Rockabilly/Funk/Country would have mixed up things nicely and wasn't really featured in any previous games to a large extend.
I will give this game a spin with some friends over the next few days to see how it plays in coop, but I don't expect anything groundbreaking.
I'll still play through the career mode, but I won't be able to play through it in one sitting as I did with previous GH games because of too little musical diversity.

Question: so I grabbed the NIG release and according to the nfo, there should be a cover with the files. Any idea why it wouldn't be there, or how I could get a hold of it? Just curious.
BTW, great job Daggerer, that's badass.

www.Console-Covers.com has excellent scans & even better custom covers.

I ran the nig release through dvd muelleter and it failed with the video error. Is this because of the wave 3 protection? When I choose to fix it it says there is no video file. Any ideas?
TIA!

Give the nex abgx a try, i think mulleter doesnt support wave 3. That would explain the error.

Can you use the slider bar only for those parts or could you it generally?

Well definately not for normal ones, maybe for longer tap on sections but I really only tried on the ones with the lines connecting them. And it really isn't that convenient.

This game is actually pretty badass. I wasn't expecting much as to me, RB just destroys GH, but this is a great game. Maybe it's the music, or the Metallica presentation aspects, but overall, it just kicks ass. Although I have to agree with MistressDeath, if this was RB2 Metallica, it would be better overall, but I still have little to complain about. After the disappointment of World Tour, this is a step in the right direction.

God damn I suck so much ass... There are some songs I can't even do on medium...
Like Master of Puppets, Frantic, Turn The Page argh!
Ok, going back to GH3 Legends of Rock, I think that was easier ;D I think I'll train a bit on GH3...

Question: If you don't like Metallica, why do you download Guitar Hero Metallica anyway?
For me, as a Metallica fan, this is the most awesome Guitar Hero game ever released - although some songs that I would have liked to see aren't there but whatever.
So it's safe to assume you aren't a Metallica fan and therefore you aren't the sole target group. Seeing as you probably haven't bought it, you weren't the target group at all, because I am going to buy this game (and I rarely buy games these days)
Question 2: What kinda music (songs) would you have wanted? O.o
