Thank you.
Now go on kids, keep fighting... |
If your an RPG fan, or if you really like the Vampire world then you will enjoy this game very much, I did atleast. I've played it 2 times, once time with Nosferatu and, another with Malkavian, and you can take diff paths and play differntly each time.
Yes, the game is full of annoying bugs but there is already a use patch out that fix all this problems, and you can enjoy a good game.
It has a VERY good storyline, good gameplay with a lot of good RPG elements and the Vampire world is suprebly integrated into the game.
Try it out! |
look man it's from the bitchy programmer who write the code they have a very good engine and they didnt use it ever 10 % of the engine powers ,man look at halk life 2 he same engine but WTF so nice world details ,but with all of that ii fnished this game for 2 time too . if u love rpg like me u will play it and have one of the most fun game u will ever play . i was wounder what if they remake the game with NWN engine ? it will be Fucken cool.

I played the VNg clone game (Which of course can't be burned with any burner I have tried it on, and I have a very nice Liteon that burns just about any SD3+ disk I have tried (image made by me anyway) ... so why is it even a clone - cuz it can be mounted? (And this isn't the first 'clone' rel. that was like this..it sits and spins then shits an Exception error at you.. hmm .. uh okl..) Anyway moving on..
about (Hoodlum rel):
I was hoping this vers would get rid of some the buggy game save problems and other bugs et al, but NO. IMHO this one has more (I just started playing a save from the VNG and was in a sewer in LA about to battle the Brother (Rabid disease dude vampire), and the freaking water in the sewer is all screwy...(Wasn't in the clone). That is as far as I got. I am happy Hoodlum released a 'no-cd', but damn.. Hmm.. i wonder if the patch will patch given that the game is modified. (EXE/dll) hmmm. Well guess I will give it a try and if it doesn't work, maybe revert back to VNG rel. or just delete the fluttery thing.. (Yes, I have a fast CPU and card..)
It's really to bad as it is a nice game idea and the graphics are bordering on being awesome.. just too many buggy things to it.
Well, I hope this answers some of those questions I have seen in this thread.. If you have the VNG just keep it, if not hmm.. don't know.. get this or don't not much diff, and another bug already from what I see! Then again you don't need the cd, but then again maybe this is why I am seeing a new bug that wasn't in the VNG?
Hope this helps some of you.
Hey what was that version someone mentioned that showed the decap scene correctly? Any1 know about it?

both releases are the same. even people who bought the game have the same problems as people with the warez version. they have the same fuckin bugs. there is nothing we can do about them until Troika releases an official patch. if you have the cloneCD version, keep it and just use Hoodlum's crack on it to play w/o the cd. if you have Hoodlum's version, just keep it.

I sorta fig'd that, but I wonder why the water is acting all strange now? hmm.. well, i even noticed on the Hoodlum version I got that on CD2 there are two 'extra' files that were not deleted from the VNG one they are:
vng-vmb2.r07
vng-vmb2.r08
(These are in addition to the hoodlum ones and of course not used..)
(I guess they forgot to delete them?)
And to say they are the same, well yes (just looking at the files they left there would point to that!) but then again there is a modfied exe and dll that aren't in use in the VNG so NO they aren't the same. -exactly. Not bitching..just clarifying, and I know this 'bug' wasn't in the clone version. (Maybe it is something to do with the config I am running under this one maybe not..just saying..)
But I do give thanks to hoodlum for trying to get a no-cd type patch on it!
And it is *defitnitly* playable...

Hmm I've downloaded the HOODLUM version because of the NFO that said there is a mutiplayer section in their rls. Now I am very sad because I can't find anything about this so called multiplayer thing.
The other thing is that as some of you have mentioned there is NO difference between the 2 rls. Hoodlum version still has the audio lag in the intro and all the bugs from the CloneCD version.
Hopefully there will be a nice patch for the game I can't wait to play it over again with a different character, but of course without these annoying bugs.

There is no MP, because TROIKA didn't manage to implement it.

Yes, they have FINALLY released one:
go here:
http:// ->
www worthdownloading com/game.php?gid=196
and of course click on the 1.2 patch (no this isn't the user patch this is an exe from dev.)
hope this fixes some probs.. you may need to revert back to a mountable version to use it, though (guessing).

Could someone who has used the patch please inform us of what is fixed? Is the intro scene with the decapitation fixed? Is the constant lag when you walk about the streets fixed?

FIXES IN THE PATCH
- Fixed C++ Runtime error on launch of the game due to older versions of Python interpreter.
- Fixed Invalid dialog responses due to older versions of Python interpreter.
- Fixed problem where keys and keycards may disappear from player's inventory.
- Fixed problem where binding either Enter or Right Mouse Button to the Use key would cause the inventory window to immediately close after opening. These bindings are now no longer permitted.
- Added "Inventory Full - Items Dropped" message when player receives items beyond the inventory limit and added inspection particles to the dropped items. This addresses the issue with cameras being lost in the "Model Citizen quest.
- Fixed problem where a player would have both the vampire and warform models stuck together when both Fortitude and Protean (level 5) are activated.
- Fixed crash to desktop when the player returns to the boat after rescuing Johansen from the Society of Leopold.
- Fixed problem where the newspaper would report success in the "Model Citizen" quest even though the player had failed it.
- Fixed problem where the player can log on to the Theater computer before receiving the "Tangled Web" quest from Mitnick.
- Fixed problem with haven mailboxes not receiving award for completing the food critic quest. quest.
- Modified E dialog so that it is easier to receive the "Thinned Blood" quest.
- Modified Regent dialog so that he now recognizes completion of the Gargoyle quest.
- Modified Isaac dialog so that he now recognizes completion of the King's Way and Gargoyle quests.

With the patch game runs better, but look at the textures... Activision and Troika decided to downgrade the teksture quality (now they look like shit) and maybe they think noone will notice...

i have tried everything, but still can't run it in 640*480. And there is no such option to change the rez in cfg files. i tried starting th game with
-with649 -height480,
but nothing.
There was an option to change the rez in registry, but i couldn't figure out how to actually change it because there are random values assigned to each rez.
hope someone can help me. check your registry and maybe you can figure it out.
