No wonder the game industry is in trouble. Someone should have pulled the plug on this project long before its release.

Runs great and looks pretty good for a RTS, controls are a bit odd at first but easy to learn (Kinda like EndWar actually.), being able to control more than one unit at a time would be nice though.

All in all it's a fairly average and somewhat simplified RTS game, DX10 (Vista or W7 when it's available.) only will probably hurt sales quite a bit though so I don't think it'll be a best seller or such.
(Seeing the big amount of quality RTS titles available also doesn't do much for this game on the PC platform.)

on the one hand i think its good if games start forcing you to upgrade your OS, because it makes things progress... i mean id hardly expect most games these days to run on win95 or something

...but at the same time i love my winxp pro, and would prefer not to upgrade for as long as i can hold it off...

Yes, but the game is shit, so it's ok.

i think the only game that will be good enough to force me to install vista, will be Alan Wake

Controlling units is tedious as hell. I don't think it crossed the Dev's mind that the "Whip" is completely unecessary on the PC version given it can be replaced with hotkey/1,2,3,4.

Better yet I keep wanting to use WASD to control. Game is not so bad just console oriented and really shouldn't have been ported to PC.

BTW; it doesn't work on Win7. Refuses to even install - and no compatibility modes work either.

I know, but the game is DX10/DX10.1 only, not "Vista only" (the installer even says "Vista SP1 or LATER Operating Systems"

Shame because I actually wanted to try this.

It does work just copy the stormrise folder from the dvd to a directory on your hard disk and start stormrise.exe it works for me:)

and why did they include a directx 9 installer Confused

I'lll answer my own question now I have tried both, the 360 version is FAR superior.
The pc version is an obvious after-thought as the game is written from the ground up with consoles in mind.

The game is very interesting, once you get your head around the new control system which is very intuitive for a console rts.
In fact I think I'll go out on a limb and suggest this is just the control system console rts fans have been seeking.
It reminds me of Too Human in that you use the sticks as methods of control rather than just movement.
The plot looks interesting with hints of depth, the suits [mechs] you control are customizable while the graphics are fine for a 2nd generation console IP.

I'll update the post once I put in some game time.
