Now THAT I didn't know! Awesome, thanks! Definitely gonna reinstall this and also check out the expansion.

Is the expansion ONLY stand-alone, or can you integrate it into G3 and use your existing character?

I think the expansion is totally standalone/unrelated to the main game. Also, I think/hope there are gonna be more patches for the expansion, so better play the original with this final patch first.

Sweet, gotcha!

I was one of the rare few that enjoyed the shit out of Gothic 3 even on its initial release ... stun-lock bug, quest glitches, horrific system performance and all. There was just something about the game that kept me playing Smile

Eh? you can die in this game, just the first level or so that enemies "forgive" you after a fight.

Alternate balancing with alternate AI enabled is what I'm testing at the moment, hard difficulty is pretty hard though and medium was recommended to begin with from the patch notes but it's fun. Smile
(A lot of interesting little differences as well, balances the game out a bit better than the default "rules".)

Thanks JBeckman for the info.I have started with AB and AI medium difficulty and feels like a completely different game.I must say that this community patch gives a HUGE boost in fps with all graphics maxed out and loading times below 20sec on a quad with 8800gt!i guess those with newer cards are in for extreme perfomances now.

Is anyone else's game still stuttering pretty bad with the 1.7 patch? The framerates are fine but the stuttering is annoying as hell.

Specs:

2 Gb RAM

Vista x64

Pretty much the same as you guys; max settings and it runs, with vsync, 75fps locked - but SOMETIMES it stutters when entering a new area, or spinning the camera too fast.

A tad annoying, but not gamebreaking. What IS really annoying, is the horrible flicking of certain textures and light sources. The only way to stop that from happening, is to disable "Depth of Field", "Rim Lighting" and Anti-Aliasing Sad

Hello guys, I have a small question.

I want to RE-install G3 and start a new game. I think i have the razor1911 version.

The question is: After I install the game, should I install the official patches and after that put the Community Patch 1.7 ??

Or I install the game and after that I put directly Community Patch ?

Thanks in advance

So it´s still running like crap. I installed it with the 1.6 patch few time ago and it was terrible, lot of crashes performance issues...

i'm 99% sure you only need to install the 1.7 Community Patch just read in the CP readme file All previous patches are automatically uninstalled or overwritten esp. with the installation of this patch

Well with the flickering isn't that an ati issue ? Bought this video card this week but i'm disappointed of it's performance and gonna keep this one only a week and change it for a gforce x260. At least the newest version core 216 which is actually faster than the hd4870 which i found out after i bought this card Very Happy

Install only CP1.7, otherwise you might run intro problems

With 1.6 i had to run the game on 1152x864 medium shaders no AF, now i can run it on 1280x1024 high shaders AF 4x with no probs

Thank you guys. I will give it a try when i will come back home (i'm at work Sad)

I hope the game now will work better with this patch.

I read a little from "changelog" but I didn't saw that line "All previous patches are automatically uninstalled or overwritten esp. with the installation of this patch"

No, according to posts on the Gothic boards - it happens on nVidia cards too. Oh and the GTX-260 isn't faster than the 4870 (not even the c216 version) - it's just that some games are optimised for nVidia and not ATi Sad
