anyway, guide for dummies :

1. Make a folder you want etw be installed to (if you havent already installed

3. Install into that folder. When asked to point to sid files, do as asked for dvd1, for dvd2 , point to _0,_1,_2,_2 in that order.

Step 4: Copy over the files from the crack dir on the disk, to the installation directory and overwrite all.

Step 5: Patch with Razor's patch

EDIT: An indication, if the game is installed properly will be the icon showing up in the start menu shortcuts instead of just an "unknown filetype" icon.

What's the point of that dvd2 install order? I did the order installer asked for both discs and all works fine (so far).

Don't think the install order matters, so long as the sim files 0, 1 and 2 are selected at some point.. or so i was told earlier in this thread.

i dont know if it does make a difference, but in that order, the installer actually quit properly (other orders it would either hang forever or end with a error message )

Yesh, if you do it 0,1,2,2, the installer quits properly and takes you to the start menu folder where the shortcut is.

Nope, as I said already I did the order that installer asked and it finished properly without any error. Maybe it only happened to you and now you confuse everyone with your placebo effect solution

I see they've worked on the AI. It now knows how to probe a line for weak spots. In this case - he deemed it weak enough, and charged a cavalry unit in there immediately after what you see in the video. Some of them survived to rout another day. No such luck for the cannoneers.

The video quality is not so good - so here's a screenie of what was left after that one volley.

Doesn't matter so much that the combat AI is a tiny bit better than in the previous installments when the campaign AI is nothing short of horrible.

The vanilla games of total war have always been no way near as good.
Wait for the mods, until then , it will be the same.

So is it better for a Total War noob (I've only played Rome for a couple of hours) to wait for mods before starting? Do the mods have that much impact? I doubt I'll ever start this game up again after I finish the campaign, I'm not a skirmish or multiplayer guy.

Try and start with the Road to Independence. Its pretty good for starters, and explains things well along the way. And i doubt that Road to Independence will get moded.

Is it possible to watch replays in razor version? I think both load replay buttons are in online and lan option, and you can't even get into those in cracked game.

Kept looking for Creative Assembly, not "The".

Is there a way to keep going after you complete the victory conditions ?

stopped playing for now. With the current AI this game is boring and pointless. Again TCA fucked itself with a non existant AI (both campaign and battle). Shame ...

Yeah the campaign AI sucks ass.... it cant even do amphibious landings..

Battle AI seems to be a hit and miss.. sometimes its good.. sometimes is shit

The thing is BOTH the battle and campaign AI is still better than the vanilla games of rome or mtw2... which is sadly not saying much.. since CA dont seem to be able program it for shit (Yes battles would be hard to prog for.. but campaign map should be not.. there are plenty of games that do this 100x better (EU3 for example)

HOWEVER .. as i have said.. multiplayer battles are amazing... its like a entire new game Very Happy

I've given up too. It's just no fun when the AI doesn't do anything. Also prefer the battles in the previous games, as watching groups of soldiers standing opposite each other reloading their weapons for half an hour just isn't all that fun.

There are some good points too though; the research stuff is neat( especially the way it unlocks abilities on units ), and developing towns adds some more strategy to the game. Doubt I'll go back to E:TW, but hopefully they can bring the good parts back to a more interesting time period.

as i said i installed MTW2 .. and the AI is just as shit if not worse..

Vanilla ETW vs Vanilla MTW2

ETW shits all over it..

CA cant seem to figure out how AI works .. also sieges are soooooooooooooooooooooo bad in mtw2 and rome.... they are not the best in empire.. but still 3000x better than in the other games

I love the time period, myself. And to be honest, there aren't many other interesting periods left.

I don't see a Today: Total War working. Battles are completely different to those 2000, 1000 and 300 years ago (which weren't all that different from each other). And the present world is so much more interdependent and complicated I just can't picture generals commanding army groups and conquering cities without minding the consequences.

I've played Hearts of Iron 2, and the latter can happen, more or less, but a nation can't do whatever it wants without getting in trouble with several other states. Unless you're at the helm of a very powerful country, you won't survive the consequences.

WW2 is as far as you can push the strategic part of the Total War series. The battle system would have to be completely revamped, as entire armies wouldn't clash in a single battle, nor in the same way they did 300, hell, 50 years before. Nothing like "I advance with my infantry lines while the light tanks charge the enemy artillery batteries." Least of all all in the same engagement!
