Only marginally easier. A little bribe is generally more than enough to overcome religious/ideological barriers. |
Sadly, the Tribute aspect of diplomacy seems way too easy. Oh you hate my guts? I'll just give you a horse and suddenly we are best friends and you will do anything for me. That makes no sense, but I've done it like 4 times and it never fails. Even the Expensive China for 1000 makes my relations skyrocket, and it lasts for a long time.
The games fun but it feels even more so like a game where you have to create your own conflicts because the computer won't usually bother you then the previous two did. I'm only playing my one campaign so maybe you guys have seen different, but nobody would dare touch me and I'm not even powerful.
The sad thing is that countries do declare war on me, but its only the little independent one territory factions that subsequently die in one turn to my army. It makes no sense and they don't even try to attack after declaring unprovoked war against me.
Countries like France and Spain would never dare attack. The French also send me the same stupid "Trade your territory for our technology" where the deal gets progressively worse for me each time its offered, yet every turn they do it, ignoring my rejections time and time again. It also doesn't matter that this hurts our relationship because 20 turns of negative trends in that can be reversed with a single $5000 horse.
I guess this is mostly a negative post about the game. I appreciate their games but I will never be a blind supporter of them. They have their issues and they are always very apparent each time I play. I would love this game despite all its problems but I hate the rifle combat, it feels so choatic and out of my control. I really hope they go back in time with the next game in the series, get back to the gritty hand to hand stuff. Theres not much excitement in the games battles for me, nothing like two groups of infantry colliding with swords clashing in medieval. This will just never have the same charm in battles, but its campaign is just so much better then before... its a hard tradeoff.

Its crazy too see how much work you have to put in to get the razor release going, i personaly bought retail and hand on heart I have to admit not a single ctd or freeze yet nearly 30hrs logged.
These days it seems as if the game makers actually find it ok to release a bugged or unfinished game, like all the previous total wars I await the mods to come out for better gameplay.

These files in rzr dir on DVD1 are not just cracked files, they are also Update1 files.

Why one COULD argue the timelime of the two games. I realy did not like M2 for its gameplay, however I really liked Rome TW, and I do miss some of the elements that are missing from Rome, but are not in Empire.
Like the General speak at the start of most battles(I know little things) but I do believe it makes it more personal AND enhances the gameplay. M2 was also so good I agree.

Just finished the Road to Independence campaign.
Once you start to roll out your army, it was pretty easy. Keep the other nations bribed, need only worry bout Britain and one Indian nation. By the later parts of the campaign I was churning out 30k per turn.
Started the Grand campaign, looks pretty daunting (this being my first total war game).

Well that fix helped alot of people so I wouldn't call it stupid. I myself reverted back to that setup so that once a new update comes, it'll be easier to update the game via manual patches uploaded here since we use the revloader and not a cracked exe.
