Does the game now use Steam servers?
How is the number of people playing? I might get it if there are a lot of players.

I was thinking in buying it, as the price is so low. But this unreal never got me in to it!
And it´s not very popular, it seems...

Still beaten by its predecessors UT2004 and even the original UT in terms of players online. Pathetic indeed, like you say.

Does ut3 require steam now with this latest patch, steam integration was added with achievements so that leads me to believe it requires steam rigth?

The game is great! I was playing Facing Worlds and the sniping is really fun. The vehicles are great and add a lot to it. I really enjoyed Warfare. For $12.00 you cannot go wrong. There are people playing this game, maybe not as much as L4D or UT2004 but I was able to play with the same group through CTF and Warfare. Graphics are great and the game seems to be more optimized than the cracked copy I played when it was originally released.

Mate, UT99 is still being played now! I was having a few games last night, there were just over 1000 players online.

LoL nice. i find the games lately lacking for my taste, ive found myself going back to alot of old shooters, quakelive is most fun and nostalgic.. Ut2004 get anything decent that was free to update with over the years ? I remember a few patches etc but is the core of the game looks wise etc still the same for the most part?

Mod-less, yeah.. the core stayed the same. There were a ton of "Community Bonus Packs" just like the first game, but unless you go down the modding route ... UT is just UT.

Amazing, isn't it mate? I knew I'd get *some* performance boost from my 4850 going to a 4870 .. but wow! Didn't expect THIS much! ^_^

I used to only play futuristic FPS games online (UT, Quake, HL1 DM) but lately such games got really pathetic. Basically they didn't bring in anything new to FPS online gaming. When you got games like Battlefield which implemented vehicles, huge maps and 64 player support perfectly. Games like Call of Duty which brought online FPS to a whole new level of chaos, fast action, immersion, unlocks, leveling system, you can see why games like UT3 are so unpopular and lost all the appeal.

Yes good thing is my 8800 is under lifetime warranty, and i see you cant even get an evga 8800 off overclockers.co.uk no more, or even the main evga site is not listing them i believe..
So those lovely germans will either fix the 8 series i got, or send the next best thing which is what it states in the rma info.. which i guess would be the 9800 series.. Ebay item ftw there for sure.. itll work out just fine for when the next good ati card comes out , ill just sell my 4870 and the card back from evga, to go towards the next big thing..

You pay for the lifetime warranty most of the time though. I was looking at a 780i mobo a while ago. The XFX and EVGA are identical and made by Foxconn and then rebranded. there was about a 20-40 pound price difference, with the EVGA board costing more.
Just realised that XFX do a lifetime waranty, just not on motherboards.

3.5 engine demonstration. |
it was an alright demo I suppose. I didnt really see any differance between the 3 engine in terms of looks in the vid, apart from like colour bleeding, oh and light hue looks slightly different through translucent surfaces zzzzz. The editor looked alright though.

Online players number dropped to what it was before release of Black Edition. Even after weekend trial and selling it for almost nothing the game's online community is still basically dead. Just shows how shitty the game is. CoD4 has 40k players every night since release day and it's not even a MP only game.
