What is the best game you've played in 2004, not talking about what you are playing now, not talking about something that you started playing a long time ago and still are in love with, but talking about THE best game, you have played, that came out in 2004 and why?
For me it's got to be Rome Total War. Remember playing it the first time, i expected something good, but it dropped out to be 10 times better than i expected, man the game was sooo addictive, in my first week i played everyday for about 20 hours straight, fucking crazy. The game just had me in a grip and it didn't let me go. I loved everything about it, the graphics, the romans(omg), the voices, the world map, the originality of the game (though here and there it was kinda cheap with some civilizations, but still damn good overall) and the length, the game really never ends. Only thing which was kind of disappointing was the MP for me, i like to build, i like to play long, i don't like games which are really all about the meat, fortunatley RTW was a good mix in the SP, but in the MP it was 100% meat. Great game, best i played in a damn long time.

Says enough? It says something different. This is not a top 5, once again it's almost the same but not quite. I am really in no mood to argue with you, if you think this thread is not legit then report it to a mod, but don't come stepping to me with that BS, thk u. |

Silent Storm. It just did everything right in my mind. instead of being like every other game out there, the devs made it turn-based and kept it turn-based from the beginning, instead of realtime which usually sells more. it did this in a wonderful 3d engine, a first in tb tactical squad games. it added destructible terrain, ragdoll physics, realistic ballistic calculations, ai that surprised you sometimes, an editor and so much more. in other words i will never get tired of playing this game. easy pick as GOTY for me, despite the competition.

For the Pc i've got to go with RTW, it's just amazing....
But the best game of the year i think it's Halo 2(Xbox).
