That's marshland apparently... at least that was what I've read.

well how it worked for me is:
1. the full install of the razor release.. so if it asks for disk2_1 for the second time point it manually to disk2_2 until the installer dissapears..
2. the proper legit retail sounds pack. Just overwrite it all.
3. the files that JBeckman provided (awesome work!). Overwrite it all. Then copy the razor .exe.
link: http://www.sendspace.com/file/88jl93
And thats about it.. all sounds.. minimal crashes..and fully playable road to independence.. (well i think).. |
I did as above and also found I dont even need the Razor exe file to play the game as the one Jbeckman provided work fine. |
JBeckman wrote: | The EXE in the archive works without copying over Razors cracked file?
Shouldn't work but I used both (Testing and such.) and might have packed the wrong one accidentally.
(I renamed and switched between them quite a bit to see that Razors cracked version didn't affect the game in any way so there's a large chance of something like that happening as those archives were made rather quickly albeit I'm certain I got all the modified files compared to the original versions in the SIM archives.)
EDIT: Semi-fixed, edited that post with a link to the first patch instead, can't do much else for now without totally messing up the post but the second patch shouldn't actually be needed as the first patch should include all modified and updated files aside from the sound_fx pack file due to it's size whereas the second patch includes just about everything aside from the pack archives.
(Which is this link by the way http://www.sendspace.com/file/jd5chd ) |
So... in short...
1 - unpack razor´s release
2 - copy sound file
3 - extract jbeckman´s files (empire total war.rar or Test.rar?)
4 - copy razor crack?

The empire total war.rar seems to be the correct one. Test.rar's file for fixing the fog problem in Quebec and Montreal seems to not have been updated.

Do you know that Razor's installer is messed up?

I ran the game with jbeckman´s files only. Weird.... isn´t "Empire.exe" from jbeckman supposed to be the original steam exe?

Oh and Great Britain keeps offering gibraltar (+ 4 techs) for acadia and some other north american ex-native worthless province ...
PS : for those who don't know, gibraltar is in southern spain ...

Have u used the updated files that JBeckman posted Sin317? when i was playing without them, i had ridiculous amounts of money! Started a new game with the updates and things seem a lot better now, i am actually struggling instead of having more money than i can spend.

Well, I bought it today too - still using Razor's release though. Haven't even opened it yet.
Heh...might bring it back - Razors with jbeckman's files are working fine for me so far. Plus, I really don't like being dependent on Steam for anything

I'm in the process of acquiring the game, so I'm not going to have any prior savegames anyway.

Indeed I'm fairly certain that it is but it was worth mentioning, game itself has a few bugs though so that might be what's causing these problems.
Hopefully the patch will fix the most severe issues, only had a crash so far but I'm not that far into the game and still playing around with the little "Road to independence" campaign.
EDIT: Compared them in Winmerge just because, there's one difference in all those 17MB of code so yeah they're identical.

As stated earlier, that's marsh land. Shame it isn't more clear tho.
When cannonballs bounce off it it shows a watery splash. Also, when they clear the deployment zone and start moving up the hill they're running at normal speed again.
@jack9911: Look for etw_sounds_sfx.pack on TPB. Use it to replace the sounds_sfx.pack file in your ETW folder.
