nope, playing from the hdd works great...no framerate issues and loading times so short i can't even read the whole paragraph
do other games work alright when you play from the hdd? then just burn the game again
well the new 1.51 did something have now better reading speeds when i play on the xbox, from HDD it loads 3-6 sec max one map , from x12 DVD its 4-8 sec max {on ix1.41 it was 10-18 sec max from DVD and it was flashed to x12}
I haven't played a Resident Evil game since RE2 but wow this game is interesting. The presentation is freakin amazing and the aiming system takes a little bit to get used to. The only thing I dont like is the amount of ammo I get. Besides the ammo thing this is a pretty solid game.
On a side note, Im playing from a memorex disc and not experiencing any problems. My other xbox 360 cannot read memorex discs at all. It only reads spotless verbatim ones which is a little weird. But the one Im using can read memorex discs just fine. Theyre both hitachi drives. The one that cannot read memorex is insanely quiet (when playing from verbatims). The drive Im using now is as loud as a regular Xbox 360 Drive. i dont know whats wrong with the quiet drive; dirty lens perhaps?

KFC's asian release is censored, but not nuked.
The game is 100% there it's just that blood doesn't appear to be too "bloody", and decapitations aren't shown on camera.
Someone on another forum said blood is slightly more black looking than red (I haven't really bothered to notice myself), and "decapitations" (pl.) as in everytime it happens lol. I know it's only on the main character but so far I've only played a couple chapters. In RE4 I believe it happened on other characters too?
Anyway, fact is, it IS censored, and I'm just saying.
I think everybody is arguing because it's the same as Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe : the PAL version is exactly the same as the JAP version but it just checks the region of your console imho.... The game itself isnt censored.
Don't really like how far the series has strayed from it's roots. If I were to change the games title/characters you'd never guess it's a RE game.
It's become more or less: Progress to enclosed location -> Trigger enemies -> Kill everything while being locked within a playing field. Over and over. Story is close to non existent with 10 second cut scenes involving either of the two main's spouting the obvious. Yes this is Capcom we're talking about but it's 2009, could they possibly write an interesting script?
Still feels like the game dearly needs a dodge maneuver at will. Controlling clunky tanks incapable of escaping danger bothers me. Funny how when I play co-op and shout "Move! Move! Move! Behind you!" - Only possible route is the quick turn around which my bro does and casually runs away. Seems like incorporating a manuver like that would require the entire game to be overhauled (A.I. Actions/Behavior - they can't be mindless drones who stand around then proceed to run into your face to lunge) but would create a much more fluid and involved experience.
I think rather then employing a 2 person/Co-Op experience in a new locale, Capcom should have improved the game play itself. Not to mention how they've taken little to no advantage of your partner in terms of game design/game play elements.
Either way it's a quality game entertaining enough to warrant everyone play time.
Still miss the RE1/2/3 days but looks like they're long gone.
Anyway that's my opinion on the game coming from someone who pissed their pants when the dogs jumped out of the mansion windows in RE1.
Exactly my thoughts... It shouldn't be called Resident Evil because it's a different game. It has horrible controls, stupid "story" and it's really, really borring. It's like they wanted to make some kind of a TPS for massess, instead RTPS came out (R stands for Retarded). If they want to move the series forward they should change everything. Why the hell did they strip the adventure/puzzle part and leave stupid controls and obsolete herbs everywhere.
I started the game on Hard and didn't end up upgrading a single weapon until near the end. Didn't realize all those gems/artifact type items were intended to be sold so I kept them thinking there would be a reward.
This resulted in 95% of enemy encounters turning into a knifing stab'vest with both my brother and I out of ammo. Seems like the ONLY two things that successfully carried over from the original RE franchise are ammo scarcity and herbs. (That you spray?)
Also, LoL @ the worthless "Mixing" command within the menu - should have removed herbs all together but they remain as nostalgia. It's as if it were a desperate attempt at salvaging what little is left from the original series.
Anyway, as far as I'm concerned this isn't a RE game. Problem is that this is the direction the series NEEDED to take in order to remain relevant in today's game market. How many of today's gamers would enjoy shooting at something across the hallway out of camera's view making sloshing sounds?

Lol, there is lots of ammo in the game and if you know how to play it you wont run out, yes you need to upgrade weapons and herbs are neccesary to heal so it has nothing to do with nostalgia, i think the series made a neccesary step to in the right direction and i give this game personally a 10/10.
I wouldn't exactly call a game that bases it's play on gauging how far away you should run from an enemy before turning around, stopping and shooting to give you enough of a safety buffer a 10/10.

You have a partner for that and actually this game is made to be played on coop, also this is known to the resident evil series so i dont call it a minus because it was meant to be played this way.
If you didn't play Resident Evil 4 (shame on you), Mercenaries is the sort of time attack mode that opens up when you finish the main game. It throws you into one of several enclosed maps from the story mode and makes you kill zombies and other nasties as fast as you can while the short timer ticks down. The trick to getting high scores is in getting kill combos by murdering enemies as fast as you can without breaks in between, and there are lots of time-extend and score-amplifier power-ups all over the place to help you meet that end.
Due to the short time limit and the glut of enemies, Mercenaries is MADDENING but also a ton of fun. My cousin and I still play the mode every year when the family gets together for the holiday. We never have gotten five stars on every level to unlock the all-powerful hand cannon (partially because we switched from the GameCube to the Wii version at some point), and now that RE5 is upon us, we very possibly never will.
The closest analogue I can think of to this is Smash TV.
