Well, not really. I'd prefer an updated engine myself.

Yea an updated Silent Storm engine that allows huuuuuuuuuuge map sizes. Wink

Anyway, I find myself spending more time in the map/mission editor then actually playing the game in SP or MP. Very Happy

Silent Storm, great memories from that game.

Anyway i love Men of War! Man just having the feel of throwing a anti tank grenade and making the vehicle tip onto its side just made me Very Happy.

Its pretty good thus far. I've noticed a few annoyances.

No autonomous ammo retrieval. On some of these maps you have a lot of guys to take care of.. and honestly if there is an ammo box or corpse of a same class soldier near by, they should belly down and grab the ammo. Perhaps a radius.. 5 meters or something.

not keeping their head down. I've had soldiers getting shot at, who I tell to lay prone but after a few seconds they get back up on their knee to look around. I went to tend something else and came back and he was dead.

Standing -> Knee -> prone ... why can't we go backwards through the cycle? sometimes I might want to tell the prone guy to go to knee but apparently I need to stand up first.

direct control of soldiers - trying to throw a grenade this sucks. I had some guys hiding in a trench tried to DC one to time a grenade throw.. as soon as I took control of him and told him to toss a grenade, he thought he should stand up. I didn't hit any movement keys. If I didn't DC him he could toss an untimed grenade from the crouch position fine. He died, and so did the next one.

Why can't we wrap bandages laying down? Depending on how badly and where I'm hurt I shouldn't need to go into a full crouch to wrap a bandage around my arm.

There needs to be a "tank is shooting at me, get the hell down until it stops" button. I realize you're supposed to micromanage the crap out of this, but when you got 50 soldiers in trenches, guns and tanks, you don't have time to run around to each group of guys and click "go prone" if a tank comes nearby.

They will go prone if they think a tank is going to blow up..even if its apparently going to take 20 minutes to do so, and won't do anything else unless forced kicked and screaming. And lord help you if the gun they are manning is within range of that tank. They won't use it until they think the tank won't blow up. This pretty much made my gun useless as the guys wouldn't man it and the tank didn't seem to want to blow up.

other than that I suppose its great Wink

Try to set "hold fire", they shouldn't be doing anything then, worth a try

Yeah it gets on my nerves too. I didn't even figure it out at the beginning. But you can pick it up with a whole squad. So if you have a whole squad selected and you pick up ammo i think it's dispersed between them. I'm more pissed off that sometimes if something blows up, they tend to lose their weapons and you have to pick them up...

Actually you can do that. Use PgUp/Down and they go through all the motions

Yeah... Not to mention sometimes when you are in perfect position to throw a nade (non DC) and the guy gets up and runs into enemy fire.

I would also like to add... I think the vehicle pathfinding is horrible. Tanks have some serious issues with going uphill. And sometimes they get stuck for no apparent reason so you have to use DC and manualy drive them out.

Also the AI targeting is sometimes a bit messed up. AT guns are really usefull only if you are picking the targets since sometimes they target a tank completely out of range while there's one right next to it.

And the stealth missions leave a lot to be desired...

But i must say its a fantastic game. One of the best RTS i've ever played.

Anyone know where I can download the 1.11.3 beta patch? It appears most of the online matches are using this version.

They said an update will come shortly that will bring all languages of the game to the same patch. Sometime within a week, or two at most I believe was said.

What I'm wondering is how many people are playing this online? I'm only willing to buy if it has a healthy online community that will last for years, but I can't tell without a cdkey to get in.

The game hasn't even been officially released in the US yet. I have also found that many of the Russian players do speak english. Does it matter if they don't? During most of the games of Company of Heroes that I have played, no one spoke the entire match unless it was to say Good Game.

If US version doesn't have a protection anyone can release it, no need for the scene. And no, it won't be "re released" by the scene, because that would be a dupe.

Actually it would make more sense for scene release as it would offer more recent version (above what reloaded was of 1.02) and it would allow patching without a problem and no need for crack. But I know what you mean:)

What? Speak english.

You need a legit key to login to the online servers. No way around it.

Yea but odds are when someone makes a statement like "means that ,that the no protection version is ready for online play," that person is probably trolling.

What do you mean? Both versus and coop require you to login through gamespy. Yes you can play coop on lan, but is that 'over the internet?'

Like I said, yes you can play coop online without need for gamespy, and yes you use lan and you can use it normally like internet, and search for any ips through lan options.

I have explained this in this very thread about 2 weeks ago:

Go to options and under multiplayer tab there is ip range, put the ip of your friend or friends who host the game with lan option, then go to lan and you will see them etc. Just dont put your ip in that option as it causes weird infinite loop:)

Btw, this method works for any mp missions not just coop

Happy gaming:) Btw, I am wondering what version the us release is designated at.
