Supposedly you can use it with programs such as CFToolBox to authenticate the game via Steam and update various files and so on. Smile
(Like verifying Razors release and update it to retail status, then using a loader to run it just like it was the retail version.)

Unfortunately I'm a bit unsure how it works as well but in the worst case one would need a valid Steam account to be able to get the updated and changed files from Razors release.

Best would be if someone placed razors file in the proper Steam folder and verified via this program however it's done and then uploaded the changed files (Should have a newer date so they should be easy to find.) and then uploaded the package to some site or even a torrent if possible assuming the complete package would be that big. (Or similar distribution network.)

As far as I understand it that sound pack file and the EXE would be the primary files and the sound pack is already available, still looking for the original EXE though but I'll find it eventually.

I've played through the first episode of the RTI campaign and found that, in battles, while the indians tend to maintain formation, once your units are close, they start running back and forth like headless chickens. They charge at your men eventually (and sometimes apparently randomly).

Sounds like a problem I had in MTW2, archers would be shooting at charging infantry, once the infantry got close they would stop, run back 10 feet, turn around, run towards 10 feet...rinse and repeat until all are dead. I would do time compression and one archer squad would kill over 500 men easily...TW series is generally buggy on release.

I have fuckin had it with this game. I can't take this random crash to desktop shit after doing something really great. It isn't very often, but when it happens. . . it is at the peak of "piss me off" point.
I'll try it some more after next weeks patch. But, it is just too disheartening for me right now. Great game except for the CTD's.

Retail boxed Special Forces copy btw.

The white screen + CTD issue (and the multiple corrupted savegames apparently coming with it) seems to be plaguing all versions of the game, for a great many users.

http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic/45906/t/Save-Game-Crash.html?page=1

Hopefully the upcoming patch will handle this, and sort out already existing saves while at it.

You're supposed to put the ncf files in your steamapps folder, and the game files in steamapps/common/empire total war/

Then you can validate them and see the absolute clusterfuck that is the pirated game's content. You could make an archive and someone with the legit version could make a CFToolbox update to fix you/us up, but it would be several hundred MBs.

EDIT: If you do a correct, it will nullify all incomplete files. Downloading/resuming doesn't work for this game due to server checks.

I figured if I had to validate but with the file empire total war main.ncf validator throws me error in validating

empire total war redist and executable, the validation was ok.

So i dont know what i have to do now

Did a test with CF Toolbox as well though only to view what differs, so far with the correct exe and sound pack file (And the two patch files from Razors crack but nothing else) the only ncf that differs is the main file which reports only a 83.84% completion so there's still a few files that have been modified/updated via Steam.

Game itself reports a 92.30% completion so it can't be all that much left though you have to keep in mind that the game is 14.7 GB or so in filesize so it could still be a few hundred MB of data.

The error is "validation failed", right ? It's because the files aren't correct Laughing

You can enable and check the logs to see which files are wrong. I don't think you can do much else atm. We need a release with the original goddamn files, not this shitty collage of files that razor put out.

@ JBeckman
Make an archive and post in the csrinru forum, maybe someone will make an update.

I'm pretty sure that the disc is the retail version but that Steam applies a update to the game when installing it properly (Kinda obvious as the sound pack file is different), unsure about the two patch.pack something files in Razors little crack bundle though but I don't use any of the other files in there.

It was the same for Fear 2 and Dawn of War 2 if I remember correctly.

EDIT: Making a archive could work.

So what is coming next is: someone have to make the file for a correction, then take it to cs.site, for a correction

And once that was corrected, we must do the correction with ctftoolbox?

Then it would be best to wait until next week to get the patch, so they do everything together.

ps: i think will be very useful make a newbies guide for ctftoolbox :/

As was said before, unless your steam account has the game attached legally, you will not be able to download, the only thing you can do is validate your install.

I agree Cartoon it's a bit too technical so with that I'll just say "Fuck it" and do it properly, here's the modified files. Smile

Patch.pak and Patch_En.pak is from Razors release but included anyway, EXE is original and unmodified from what I posted previously and the loader method currently doesn't work so use Razors cracked EXE instead, in addition to this use the proper Sound_Fx.pack file or what it's name was, can't upload it or distribute it due to it's size.

Don't use any other cracked files aside from this. (And the modified EXE.)

Currently uploading but I'll edit this with the link shortly.

EDIT: Here, also tested with Razors EXE just to be sure and it worked fine.
(Though I only played briefly on the land tutorial map)

How big is the original sounds_sfx.pack ? Any links ?

I downloaded some shit but seems it's the demo crap, because its date is old and it's smaller.

fuck this game is so good.

Just been playing non stop for like 5 hours.. this is prob one of the best games i have EVER played.

I dont know where to start really...

I have had so many "holy fuck this is awesome" moments in this game

If you have not bought this game.. do it.. its everything PC gaming should be.

Sure it has bugs.. a few infact. and sieges.. well they have never been a total war strong point.... however nothing to detract from the gameplay .. this is like a fine wine and will get so much better with age.

If your gonna buy ONE game this year ... this is it.

Should have done this directly instead of trying other methods first, game itself is very good albeit it can be a bit overwhelming at first as there's a lot to do. Very Happy
(Should put an end to most tech discussions as well and perhaps make the thread a bit clearer with mainly game/gameplay discussions as there probably might not be as many posts about how to run it and so on now, assuming my instructions are understandable. )

Nice to hear that it worked as intended with those files and the sound pack, can't upload it directly as it's 500 MB or so packed and 800 MB unpacked. Smile
