I wouldn't try and trick STEAM, people have had their accounts - and by extension all the games they've bought - invalidated for that sort of thing. Don't cancel your pre-order by cancelling the credit card charge either.... that's a sure fire way of getting your account banned.

GAME are always expensive, they get around it by having a rewards scheme which fosters 'loyalty'. Either way it's going to be cheapest online, but try the supermarkets.

Baleur and Mole: You guys forgot about VAT (momsen), all Steam prices are listed without VAT. I agree they could have made it a bit clearer though.

there is no vat for EU contries whey you buy in steam in euro - maybe you gus are in countres from outside European Union

I got Rome for "free" after I bought Empire. Shows up on my STEAM games page. So they probably raped you there as well.

it is competitor but any key from this game ( bough electronically / box) allow to download from steam
take a look at unreal III taht soon will get update but only for those that register retail key with steam and redownload the game ( 9 GB ... )
i could bet that all you get is key or AT most some sort of p2p installer ....
nah - still bet key only - could someone who bought that way confirm it ?
if you bought how \do you download the RTW gold ?

NEVER use D2D, they use a 100 years to get patches out...not in a million years would i use D2D, not even if they were the only one offering digital download.

Personally I'm going down to the local GAME-shop tomorrow and getting the normal version for 35€
Would be sort of hilarious if the steam-servers cocked up and I end up playing before the guys who pre-ordered via steam. And tbh that is probably whats gonna happen since it will take some time to get 15gb~ downloaded for most people

The retail version of the game is two dvds, first one containing 7862592k (7.49g), the second one being smaller, only contains 4346080k (4.14g). Since these are steam files, i assume that the download size will be similar.
Total is a little less than what i 'estimated' earlier, *only* 11.83gigs.
