They both felt flawed, dont remember their model names but lets name them the smaller standard and the the bigger one. The smaller models accuracy was absolutely horrible. At times I felt like I was playing an rpg game, pulling the trigger and waiting to hit someone. This didnt improve if you knelt either, making the small machinegun useless. The bigger one was a lot better, but whats up with it only being able to carry 2 extra shelfs and maximum 30 round a shelf? Felt like you had to reload everytime you killed an enemy. The bullets also felt abit like the boring childish bullets from Halo, colorfull yes, but missplaced in a game made for adults. Throughout I sometimes felt HL2 lacked abit gritt and dirtieness.
I loved the standard gun at the beggining, wish you could've used it at the latter stages of the game. The magnum pistol was also very nice, the brute force of that "canon" made it my favorite one to use. The shotgun was fun to use only when facing antlions, which gave alittle Starship Troopers feeling to the game, and killing zombies etc.
Ravenholm also dragged the game down abit, took me ages to finish it. |
The MP-7 is a sub-machine gun, do you know the difference between a machine gun and a sub-machine gun? A sub-machine gun is a weapon designed for clearing rooms mostly, for urban warfare, they have a small calibur to reduce the recoil, as SMGs shoot very fast, due to the small calibur and the high fire rate every SMG has poor range and poor/mediocre accuracy. Don't blame the tools, they do what they are made for, you can't take an MP-7 to a large field battle. the MP-7 is inaccurate yeah, but that's realistic, in real life it's also inaccurate, it doesn't get more accurate when you kneel or when you go prone it's just the way the gun was designed, would you have liked it better if the bullets all flew in a straight line, hitting everything you point your crosshair at? For me that would be gay and boring. I didn't use the MP-7 that much either but i love the fact that it's realstic, even though it's poor outdoors, that's the way it is. That bigger AR or MG doesn't exist i don't have any comment on that. And i also love the HK USP MATCH, my fav weapon in the game. |
Lol, I only wish they'd implement some realism in the game. But for a somewhat futuristic game you'd think they'd be able to construct sub-machineguns with a little better accuracy. and no, I hate games where you point and click the trigger and kill everyone, but even burst firing sucks donkey balls.
I'm not talking about taking down people from 1000 m away in hard wind or anything. Even in smaller areas the sub-machinegun is way to inaccurate... |
Lol you're right actually, the maximum effective range of the MP-7 is 200 meters, though in HL2, 10 meters is already too much.

Now that's cynical.
|
I wouldn't call it cynical, fact is more fitting, but if you know something about SMGs that i don't, do tell me.

I think the most fun games are war based games like COD and MEN OF VALOR
and MOHAA(the firs) or the most adrenaline packed game is UNREAL TOURNAMET
but the king of all games is no doubt GTA, i played the game 2 months before he got bored
"FRIENDS" rules
I know my english is bad so correct me if i wrong.
thanks.

We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

The gravity gun is great, but the story SUCKS......
Half life 1 was a better game, 2 of course had much better graphics, but I played hl1 4or 5 times, but I will not bother to play hl2 again......

It's because when HL1 came out, it was very new, everything was new, you can't expect people to reinvente the wheel everytime so that we will play a game 10 times over. After HL1 i bet you played a trillion other shooters, good and bad. HL2 took graphics, physics and gameplay of a shooter to another level.
Clearly alot of people do not like this game, lol they have set the bar fucking high then, i think it's a fucking masterpiece, and that no other FPS comes even close. People expected a revolution, i think it's revolutionary to certain point, i expected more freedom, and also much less scripting, it's not really in the game but i am no where near disappointment, i still think it's the best shooter untill this day.

Graphics=no (though very good)
Physics=yes ..though lots is scripted (why so many fresh melons about ?)
Gameplay=you must be on something pal..its boring
AI=not fit to lick HL1's boots
Story=well the less said about that the better
Hype=the biggest ever, bordering on the completely insane
Gravity Gun=very good till you get bored @20 minutes
Chickens=did somebody forget to kill them before they went in oven (they sure made me feel hungry though)
Fanbois=the very best, no one set of fans have tried to stuff something so average down my throat, so hard for so long ...EVER

You are a fanboy as you can't accept the fact that a lot of people found this game boring but try to force your view on us.

I am not trying to force anything on you, but yes i can not understand why people find this game boring. Once again i am not a fanboy, i just had a great experience with HL2.

Half Life 2, for me, was one long montonous ride passing through unoriginalville before stopping at anti-climax-burgh.
I felt I had a duty to complete the game, because so many folk raved about it's greatness. I wanted to like something in it, but as far as I'm concerned it's just another mediocre fps on the PC.
However much you flame me or the game itself, FarCry was (and still is) the most memorable graphical, gameplay pacted fps on the PC in a very very long time. It certainly layed the smack down and stole the thunder from Doom 3 and Half Life 2.
All I can say is roll on FarCry II to raise the graphical bar yet again.
FarCry forever.

Hl2 should be a continue from HL on a big underground facility thats what made the game so good. HL2 is good but the levels are just some samples at least it feels like that. for example Ravenholm then suddenly bright day and we continue on the trains a little before the Coast level is there... its just a little to unbalanced the levels

Yeah I also would have preferred that setting but I still think that HL2 is a great game even the best FPS of the year...
