The game has something, that's for sure.

I almost didn't try it due to how awfully generic it looks at first glance (I'm really tired of the same old Fantasy crap..) but upon playing it, it didn't take long to appreciate the depth and spirit of the game. That said, I've spent most of my time rerolling, haha. I can't decide what I want to play - but that's a good thing, in my book! 20 classes, I feel spoilt for choice.

A tip for you:

Specialize the characters Smile Don't try to be jack of all trades, doesn't work. I think my first character was charlatan, and I tried to get ALL gathering skills, dialog skills, thieving skills and smithing+such... didn't work Smile

how about training characters and buying gear for them? considering you have to pay for the training, i'd guess it's better to stick with the same characters, if they work well together, so you don't spread your hard-earned (seemed that way to me, at least) cash in too many directions. i still haven't recovered my thief and i was thinking about either switching to the other, similar, character, but i'm not too sure now.

About quests/storyline: Can you be evil or limited to the generic high fantasy goody two-shoes type character? And quests, are there multiple outcomes/choices/branching questlines or mostly boring fedex/kill x enemies assignments?

This is exactly whats keeping me from even trying it out, as it looks so generic. Atleast in Baldurs gate 2 there was C&Q.

Keep 'Willpower' at max, or you will regret later. It's one of the most important skills (unless some patch has changed it).

Secondary skill is your weapon skill. After that I'd take the special weapon skills (you need these only on tough bosses, basic enemies dies easily with normal melee)

Then, at some point try to increase your Strength and other statistics, and hitpoints.

As a warrior, skip all lore skills, crafting skills, speaking skills and thief skills. Have NPCs specialize in those

The thing I hate about games like this and Neverwinter Nights, and Baldurs Gate is the whole...

-Create a character, but make sure you don't group with another character that may have the exact same skills as you have, because then who is going to detect traps and shoot arrows? Oh, awesome you found someone who can detect things and shoot a bow. Ohhhhhh look at that AMAZING bow you just found, and look another archer for your group. Now which archer do you give the amazing bow to? Good choice, now they are super powerful. Oh wait, where did they go? Oh that's right they LEFT AND MAY NOT RETURN, AND IF THEY DO RETURN, YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN.

I doubt it's something so primitive. There is some smoke rising from the levers but can't figure out what it means.

Hahaha, this is brilliant. You do realize this is an RPG right? You're not supposed to see and do everything with just one character.

This is exactly my game plan atm (only at lvl 3 soldier) Willpower and weapons seems to be the most logical, and then HP and maybe strenght, and also so you can make more special moves seems important!
Some enemys regenerate very fast so if you cant do many special attacks in a row you cant kill them.

I would like to be abel to focus on one more talent, i just dont know wich one. Fast talker maybe.

BTW: Where can i heal wounds in the city ? Havent found any place yet. I was thinking that the cathedral that are closed might have that option later on, but for now where can i go?

AND could someone mod and send the file so the gathering time is like 1-2 sec and maybe increase moving speed just alittle if its possible! Thx if someone have the strenght i would be most grateful Smile

I'm fairly early in the game, right after second main quest and so far there were no decisions or good/evil choices. But even without those story has been great and so were the quests.

There are couple of generic ones, the rest are varied and interesting. Here you don't just simply go to X and bring Y, you must first buy a fish and feed it to Z that leads you to Y. Smile

I also like game world, not as realistic and grim as in Witcher but also far from later Forgotten Realms where practically everything is magical.

Come to think of that, first Baldurs Gate was exactly like that.

Only two prerogatives to the game. Map marks that i fixed with no map marks mod, and health regeneration. I dont like that your health fills too quickly. There are a mod for the last?

I'm in love!!! This game finally lit a spark of gaming in me that's been out for a while for RPGs. This game has gorgeous graphics and gameplay reminds me of a MMORPG but in a single-player setting that is VERY complex but lets you be the star of the action whenever you schedule permits and not when some stupid clan decides you'll raid a dungeon.

With that said, I decided to go for the Archer, it's a class I'm hoping is like Relic's or WoW's archer one-shot-one-kill-stealth type of gameplay. I however am not exactly sure what skills are best to get and which to leave off. Anyone got any recommendations for Archers?

I didn't start up the game yet, so I don't know what skills there are. But why would a soldier need high willpower? Does it serve a purpose in this game other than magic?
And the previously requested mod for short gathering times would be great, if anyone feels up to it of course.

It's pretty easy to modify with the instructions that were provided in page 9 of this thread.

Here's the modified file with animal lore (Skinning an such) and plant lore (Herbs and such) skills modified with no time requirements. (Instead of four seconds to gather or skin it's instant.)

Place in the \Export\DB folder. Smile
