hell yeah. i just hope that my saves from the german version still work.

i got stuck at the rat queen when i played. she's hard as fuck. haven't seen such a difficult fight in a long time. harder than the dog boss from the witcher, for example.

You're more or less not supposed to kill the rat queen that early Smile My gf was stuck trying to kill it for like 6 hours when she finally gave up and checked the forums for help. And there they said that you should wait for a while.

It's just a bonus boss.

Yea, it's fun.... Don't try it with too sucky computer though, my sucky laptop, (2GB, 1.9GHz dualcore, geforce 8400M G) I'm having gothic 3esque stutters Razz

I guess I'll wait until I buy a new desktop to actually play this game again.

Btw, if you plan collecting all the herbs and such, I recommend you mod the game a bit, it's really easy to mod out the delays from the gathering skills. Makes the game much more enjoyable. It's frustrating to have that ... 5 second delay when picking a herb or cutting open an animal.

Somehow it reminds me of Fable in a way, it has that special flavor about it, but then again it’s totally different. From what I understood it’ll become more darker/sinister later while advancing, but in the very beginning everything is so beautifully colored, rich in detail astonishing fantasy world Smile

In the beginning the battle IS slow. You deal so tiny amounts of damage and hit so slowly.

Play imaginatively... like using a thief and setting traps to kill the enemy. More interesting that way.

The game itself is fucking awesome, i don't even know what to play anymore with all good releases lately

Didnt have any issues with cam , just ran around with WASD and used right click to turn the cam.

But the combat is weird. I think id like to be more in control... Now I just see a boar watching my soldier for 5 minutes and hitting each other occasionally. And invisible boundaries Witcher style also dont look very well. The world is really nice tho.

bonus boss? goddammit. thanks for the tip.
only problem is that i'm 4 floors deep in those damn sewers, i'll have to backtrack my way back to the surface Sad

so don't go down in the sewers to chase rats, people. unless you're feeling overly confident in your char's survival and ass-kicking abilities Smile

Following Glottis example here's something that'll reveal a lot more skin.
http://nudecreator.de/page/modules.php?name=Downloads&page=dl_front.php&ordner=160

Unfortunately the downside is that it's made before the high-res texture pack was released so texture resolution of these modified files are only half of what the hi-rez pack is. (512x512 instead of 1024x1024 I believe.)

Well the fighting is different, more KOTOR style where you just queue attacks & powers. But the whole world, skinning animals, gathering plants, quests is very Gothic 2 -ish. Even the world, maps and colors are similar. I like it a lot.

I usually don't care about combat in RPG's, eventually it's always repetitive. It's all about the gameworld, writing and atmosphere. If that's anywhere near Gothic 2, this'll be a great experience.

Except this one runs at 100fps at the time of release unlike Gothic 2 or 3 Smile

First you'll need a SQLite editor, such as:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=87946
(It might need that you download:
msvcr71.dll
google it and get it from dll-files

After this start the sqlite database browser you downloaded, and open static.db4 file from drakensang/export/db/ folder

there go to Browse Data tab
and choose _Template_Talent from the table: pulldownmenu

there's different skills and attributes affecting them. Field "TaActions" is the delay of use.

"Taschendiebstahl" = Pickpocketing
"Fallenstellen" = Traps
Pflanzenkunden = plantlore (herb picking)
Tierkunde = animallore (cutting open piggies)
Schloesser = lockpicking
FallenEntschaerfen = umm... remove traps
I would not change heilkundewunden or gift, as they're the remove poison/wound and they would actually really affect the gameplay in a way of cheating. ( you could instantly heal yourself in the battles with usage of items)

Change the TaActions for those fields to 0 and you've instant plantpicking, picklocking and such. Makes game a bit more enjoyable.

You can also make all kinds of 'uber' items and characters this way Smile

Not really, e.g WoW, KOTOR, NWN.. Usualy when you have a whole party to control the combat will suffer somehow.

How do i upgrade the special abilities? it says i need 200 leveling points, what's that?

Leveling points is the XP you get from monsters, then to upgrade your special abilities, you have to find a trainer, who teaches that and it then costs some money too.

I love the game. Will be getting it from Gamersgate. Only real problem I had was with how obvious the turns were. I would really like to see some method of obfuscating the turns so that it doesn't look like a dance in the game they're currently working on.

Oh and maybe less cliche's. Forest of Darkness. lol

Good game. I'm torn between Warhammer and this one. LOL

I recall it's same in the German version... not all discussions are totally spoken, just some lines. Can't be 100% sure, but I'm quite sure... Razz

The game has something, that's for sure.

I almost didn't try it due to how awfully generic it looks at first glance (I'm really tired of the same old Fantasy crap..) but upon playing it, it didn't take long to appreciate the depth and spirit of the game. That said, I've spent most of my time rerolling, haha. I can't decide what I want to play - but that's a good thing, in my book! 20 classes, I feel spoilt for choice.
