I actually completed this game before with skolo666's translation. Was quite a fun game. I might replay it when the english version is released.

i only see one texture pack, the 1.7gb one: http://www.patches-scrolls.de/drakensang.php
this hi-res patch sounds good. i wonder how it looks, since the unpatched game was pretty good looking in the first place. i don't remember it having ugly textures or anything of that sort.
any pics pre/post update?

Texture patch requires 1.2 update as it adds that option to the main menu, game still starts with the 1.1 exe (YASU 1.5/DT Pro) but AA and Hi-res textures can't be used as it's missing from the executable code.
(1.2 has a new SecuROM that detects DT even with Yasu, same with latest Far Cry 2 executable from SecuROM themselves, issued to fix a few problems with conflicts, it totally blacklists DT and latest Yasu.)

Yeah I've read that older versions of YASU aren't blacklisted by these newer SecuROM versions, though the blacklist issue seems to be fixed now in the latest YASU build, just going trough testing a bit before it'll be released from what I've read on the DT forums.

Indeed been waiting for English. Tried it with the usermade translation and I just couldn't get into it that way.

Sorry for making things a bit confusing but yes, Drakensang: The Dark Eye will supposedly be released on the 27th next month whereas this newly announced prequel will be released in early 2010.
(German version first probably with the English version following later.)

US version should be out.
I hope they do scene release soon... I'm for one not gonna support the European publishers with their prices... Drakensang PC 40-50€ (played 2/3 through on German version, but with my elementary school German I missed the 2/3 of the text totally).
Game gets a bit repetitive once you figure out everything ( atleast the d&d system couldn't keep me hooked until the end as I didn't really understand the story)
Once it's out on Gamersgate / Impulse (for 15-30€) I might consider actually buying it.

Can someone who has already played this compare it to Gothic 2? Is it at the same level?

Judging from demo its different kind of rpg. Closer to Nevewinter Nights and Baldurs Gate than to Gothic.
Just try demo and you'll see if you'll like it.
