Yeah, good point. As we've already seen.. the UE3 can turn out horrifically bad in the wrong, or inexperienced, hands. Last Remnant really is a great game, but it's not without issues - not least of which that outside of the huge battles it just looks and FEELS like an Unreal mod.
Hopefully they learn for the upcoming port to the PC. At least the advanced hardware will help, as long as they don't go the Cockstar route and make it for QuadCores only.
results 132 FPS average. All max 1400x900 resolution
Well I was certainly never going to compete with a GTX-280 and a Q8300 (love that proc, by the way! 45nm Quads FTW! The Q8300 is on my "to buy after my 4870" list!) but I don't think I did too bad either
87.93fps on average. Dropped down to the 50s when the Remnant Cannon was fired, highest of 140ish during flyovers ... but yeah, I'd say 90-100 would be game average.
Glad to see SquareEnix fixed the slowdown from the 360 version too! Looks like I might stop playing the 360 one in favour of the upcoming PC release
wow, the characters looked unbelievably generic. the main guy(?) looked like a mash of all the other anime characters ever, all blended down to the most bland and stereotyped mix, the one from the end screen looked like something out of a bad 80's tv movie and even the monsters didn't have any personality whatsoever.
the graphics looked alright though, but kinda devil-may-cry-ish, in that sterile featurless hi-res way.
got 50-100fps on a 8800gt, with a drop to 30 when that cannon fired.
By the way, the latest issue of Famitsu reveals that the PC version will hit Japan on April 9. Not sure about other regions, but then again, seeing as how the 360 version was released simultaneously worldwide (something S-E was very proud of, and was one of the key points in marketing the game), perhaps the PC version will also see a simultaneous global release.

Sorry the game doesn't appeal to you, Lhzr. Real shame too as the game is pretty darned good!

What kind of game is it? Last JRPG or whatever I played was enchanted arms and god damn was that boring.
In other words; perfectly playable and 2-5x better than the 360/PS3. God those slowdowns were crippling! How in the hell SE could have allowed it to be released like that .. and STILL going unpatched .. is beyond me.
I get 105.50 FPS average at 1680x1050 and forced 8xAF (sadly AA doesn't seem to work). I think the game looks great, especially the combat and animations. I only noticed one texture popin for a split second. It's only a benchmark so we'll have to wait for final version to see if all the console technical issues were addressed. But I really love what I saw in the benchmark, can't wait to play JRPG on a PC
it wasn't much of a success on consoles due to its boring story , LOTs of loading screens, very long cutscenes etc
or so say the reviews
I watched a few video reviews and the main bad side of the game they kept mentioning was technical issues. Most of reviews said that gameplay, cutscenens and story is top notch. Long cutscenes is a signature of JRPGs, so not liking long cutscenes in such games is the same as not wanting a ball in a football game.

cutscenes are good and sometimes epic, story is ok, loading times are negligible if it runs from the hdd and even the technical problems aren't that big of an issue (it was still playable).
it's the combat system that's fubar. leveling up is 99% automatic, there are no "levels", just a "battle rank" that roughly sums the strength of your entire army. you can spend hours just putting your little army together and crafting items for your main char (yes, that's right. at the end of the game, you have an army of ~20 guys and the only one you can customize is the PC) - but when you go into battle, you can't really control your guys, just give general commands (like use normal attacks, special attacks, magic, heal - but not exactly who should do what) for a group of yours to attack an an enemy group. plus there are always only 5 orders you can give. if heal is not one of them, you can't heal. same with limit breaks, even if you can clearly see that your unit could do one. and they change depending on which enemy group you choose to attack, so in extreme cases you can do some atomic bomb drop style attack one a unit that's halfway dead, but if you want to attack the boss right besides it, only weak attacks show up.
and did i mention that the more you level up, the stronger the enemies get, right down to the point where some bosses become unbeatable?
*rant rant rant*
to sum it up - for a jrpg with an emphasis on strategy, there's far too much luck involved. it's still a good game, you just need one hell of a frustration threshold to get through
*bump*
The benchmark ran at some 20fps on my old laptop, heh hope there will be the option to turn stuff off to improve preformance (like shadows) since you could only mess around with the resolution in the tool... otherwise i´ll have to get it for the 360
Got average of about 56fps on my 3,2ghz dual core and 8800gt. Have the game on disk for X0 aswell but have yet to try, cos I'm still playing Lost odyssey.
Seems this system has gotten pretty popular as a form of very light DRM verification with titles like DoW 2 and FEAR 2 to name two recently released games. (Beats the limitations of SecuROM online activation but it's not as smooth for non-legit customers in terms of updates and similar.)
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
