Which release?

The version I play is a "clone" of the actual disc image so it contains both SP and MP, only on the third level on what I think is the normal difficulty level but the game has a decent story though I'm only starting out with it. (Killing random Ork squads while taking smaller objectives.)

SP is mainly small squads so you'll use various tactics like flanking and cover to defeat a larger enemy force whereas MP has a larger force for each player limited by which units you decide to use.

During the SP campaign you'll also level up and find more equipment that you can use to give the squad leaders better stats in for example ranged weapons or health plus outfit them with stuff you find if they have the proper requisites like level and "class" (Scouts use different equipment than what the Marines and the Force Commander uses for example.)

EDIT: I'll prepare a few screens, would probably work better.

Character menu with devastator squad selected.

Map menu with mission selected.

JB, could you please tell us about the Army Painter section, and how it differs from DoW1's? Screenshots of it would be appreciated too. Smile

Army painter has you first choosing which faction to use - Space Marine, Orks, Eldar and Tyranid.

After naming your new army you can then choose one of four areas to paint plus select a logo for the factions that support this (All but the Tyranid) you can also select how the paint is applied but this only affects space marines.

There's a ton of different colors to use plus two metallic silver and gold paints so you can give your custom army a pretty unique appearance without much effort.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure those extras are part of what that DLC is that's on the disc, unsure how to use it though.
(Mentioned a bit on the previous page.)

Can't say which of the extras it is either as I can't unpack it.

Hit the "Campaign" button in the main menu and under the LIVE option there should be your name and a button called "invite friend" should be possible to click that to play co-op.

EDIT: Figured the DLC structure out by comparing it to Anchorage.

C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC\5451082D\00000002\FC6A678326EAC085ACA365AE99B50A121F98BE53

And you can see this by opening the content.xbx file in notepad and comparing the various number paths with the file path. Smile

EDIT: Based on the name and size though I'm pretty sure it's just a test that's somehow part of the installation. (It's a tiny bit sized file with a single character in it.)

I´m liking the game a lot more!

Is there a workaround to make possible to choose ultra in some of the graphic options?

It´s just stupid that they block it...

So it isn´t neither a beta nor a video restriction. Why is the option there then? :S

Can someone pls explain this:

1.Edit INSTALL_DOW2.bat
set SRC="D:\Downloads\DoW2\Dawn of War II_disk1.sim" Way to file SIM
set DST="c:\DoW2" Way Unrar
2.Save and enter INSTALL_DOW2.bat
3.Copy all files from Folder "loader" to game
4.Change address SteamClientDll in file rev.ini on your
5.Click Loader and Play!

This is written in such poor english that I need a "translation".

1. Edit the install _dow file so that the SRC (source) is the path to your downloaded files and DST (destination) is the path where you want to install the game.
2. Save and run Install_dow
3. Copy all files from Loader directory to your destination directory
4. Edit rev.ini so that the path SteamclientDll points to the directory where you installed the game.
5. Run Loader

I tried this but I get an error when I run the loader: Application load error 3:0000**** bunch of numbers

WTF did I do wrong?

Maybe the patch will unlock it, lol they suck.

EDIT:
"4. Edit rev.ini so that the path SteamclientDll points to the directory where you installed the game. "
No, you need to put the full path of the original steamclient.dll (you can find it in steam's folder, you can copy elsewhere or rename it to original_steamclient.dll or something in the game's folder)

Paste your rev.ini here if you have more trouble.

not where your game is installed, but to the steam folder (where the dll is located)

You need 64 Bit Vista for Ultra textures.

That or you could alter the configuration file, mentioned it on the previous page. Smile
(Works great and is also currently the only way to disable VSync, though it'll be disabled by default with the first patch along with that command line switch to force the game into allowing 32-bit users the Ultra texture quality.)

For me the most annoying is there is NO saving within a combat. You play a large map, you gonna finish it or start from the beginnig next time.

You can get ultra textures through editing the file, but my game crashes with error or gives me a black screen (maybe it needs 1024 mb of video memory or smthn).
If anyone gets eventually how to get preorder content( colors and wargear)-i'd be really greatful Smile

I modified the "configuration.lua" and it worked. Btw, Do you know what dynamic lightning is for -apart from the obvious? it´s not on the graphics options and it´s on 0 by default.

It has a singleplayer campaign and it can be played trough with a friend in co-op. Smile

Unsure what dynamic lighting does but I did notice that it was disabled by default, didn't notice anything when changing it to enabled so it might not do anything at all as the game already uses dynamic lighting from what I notice.
(Shadows and general HDR settings, can be further checked in the game install folder and the Driver folder, contains specific settings for NV and ATI cards.)
