That's because people who got those chars were always leveling their new ones. Wink

sarcasm aside, there is no (real) point in having maxed out chars in diablo games. Highest level item in d2 was what , L87 (Cranium Basher), (L85 Balrog Skin) unlike games like WoW where everybody gets to max level in no time (well, especially in WoW ..)

Yeah and to be honest I always felt D2's endgame wasn't as good as it could've been... Some of the D2 mods have a really cool concept of uber areas with very difficult mobs/bosses or challenges, which is a great idea and hopefully Blizz will work something like this for D3, too (I mean they wouldn't have to have loads of unique drops or anything, either, I'm sure people would enjoy the challenge itself). Sure there was uber Diablo, but that was about it.

Well to be honest I lost interest in unmodded D2 long before any of this stuff was implemented, and I always preferred singleplayer (or LAN at best) anyway. But I suppose my point was that these things should've been in the game from the get go, not only after lots of time and patches.

Hard to compare since they're so different; Eastern Sun is more about making a turbo-charged version of Diablo 2 with the class types etc. mostly intact, whereas Median changes pretty much everything. Worth a try tho.

Play it, and get the expansion as well if ya want to. Tho the expansion has nothing to do with the story later on in diablo 2.

Sure it look lesser good. But it is really fun. Yes there is only 3 difrent looks of you're caracter depening on armour.

As for story there is some in there in text, some story teller reads it for you. It's a clasic and it's good. Play it.

My question is, am I right? Would I feel that it's so inferior in terms of graphics and gameplay, to that of D2?

Well, Diablo has only one resolution (640x480 if I remember correctly) so it will look rather bad on a large screen. Graphics wise, Diablo 2 has more details that Diablo but that's about it. I think (don't know) Diablo 2 uses an upgraded version of Diablo engine.

Or should I bother giving it a try? Is it worth it in terms of story?

Try it. The story is simple, but good (and dark).

He said something like making the game the best way and then figuring out what to do to support it financially. So basically his answer was pretty inconclusive.

I just checked it again and he did, yeah. It would surely be disappointing if they started whoring a monthly free from players.

So what classes do you guys think will come next? I think an Alchemist is coming. It would fit with the lore and still be new. Think about it, using pots to strengthen himself, make bombs (not engineering bombs, but rather, flask bombs of different sorts) and spraying chemicals and stuff. Could be cool.

There's only two slots left, and obviously one goes to an archer-type character (one of the vids show a bow dropping and none of the current classes use 'em). For the last, I really doubt they'll let Barbarian be the only melee-type character, so I'm thinking something more defensive (1h&shield instead of 2hander or dw) or something else to make it different from the barb.

Probably not paladin tho, I'm hoping for something darker/evil since they ditched necromancer. And no witch doctor doesn't count, he's a stupid jungle monkey, not cool like necro was. Razz

Edit: ^ that would follow the classic D2 character structure as well (I know they said they won't bring back the majority of old classes, but they said nothing about class types Wink). Vanilla D2 had 2x melee, 2x caster and 1x ranged, it worked well then and there's no reason for them to change that.

Alchemist is a cool concept tho, so they might very well come up with something very similar for the inevitable expansion later on.

They could make Diablo 3 and SC2 100% free with all the WoW money but they can also make more money by not doing it. Wink

And no LAN? Had some serious fun on LAN with friends in Diablo 2, with legit versions yes. Sad

No no no, that's not what they're planning on doing. They've said a bunch of times that B.net2 will not cost anything to use. HOWEVER, they are planning on introducing optional non-essential services that'll cost money to use.

Well, as comforting as this may be, you still can't deny the fact that in this more current interview Boyarsky didn't actually say that. Even though he was asked on the same subject he chose his words very carefully when he could just flat out say that it will be free. Instead he kinda circled around it by basically saying that they're still not sure what are their plans for this yet.
I believe you that what you mentioned may have been said, but things do change...

How is that relevant? it's a bussiness and they'll need/want to make money with every franchise.

hehe. well. The bottom line is businesses are formed to make money.
There are stockholders.
If they can do something to increase stockholders returns, they will.
Call it greed or whatever you want but things don't get made if they don't make money.

If they think they can charge something for B-net, don't think for one second that Blizzard is some kind of "generous" company. They will make money where money can be made just like any other company. There is no such thing as a company making "enough" money.

To stop it, you have to speak with your wallet. But, we dunno whats going to happen with it yet.

They don't "owe" you a thing.
If they fear Diablo III may make WoW subscriptions drop, trust me. They are eyeing how to make money on B-net.
Especially in this economy.

Pay to Play online is sad business... They just want constant money to fall through their mail boxes...So next time this stupid greedy money crisis happens again they know YOUR hard earn money will save their asses...Send the checks people...

They get away with it once they will continue... When I buy any software, I DONT want to continue to BUY new serial/keys and update my key every damn year...
I buy software so I can use it NOT rent the shit...
