Been having this problem for over a year now, I just cant seem to get enough sleep. I go to bed around 11.00 pm at night, usually cant sleep until 00.00 or 01.00. Then for the rest of the week I'm like a zombie, walking around work feeling half-dead.
Its become such a pain im getting depressed, dont have the energy to do anything after work. Its really a bitch.

I usually can't sleep after soccer. Last Friday I got home @ 11.30pm and I was awake tossing in bed until 6am. And the worst thing is that I'm really tired after soccer...
If it really bugs you, go see a doc. But I usually go to sleep around 1am, and even if I sleep to 9-10 I still feel like zombie. Thankfully there is nothing caffeine can't fix

just try to drastically change your sleeping rhytm...
Go to bed @ 9-10 and you will wake up at the regular hour and feel lots better. Then after a while you go to bed earlier and wake earlier... Worked for me.
I used to go to bed @ 1-2am and fall asleep @ 4am or so and then go to work @ 8-9... Killing me.
Now i go to bed @ 10, i fall asleep and i wake up with no prob @7-8. I do some household chores, go to work early and be back earlier...

Yeah I can go to bed at 19.00 pm, that doesent mean Ill be able to sleep until 00:00 anyway. Some people, like my ex-gf are able to sleep almost instantly but me I tend to roll around for quite some time before finally falling alseep. My father also has this problem while my mom and brothers are able to just go almost instantly.
The main problem is even if I get used to sleeping early come weekends I usually sleep alot later, then sunday night its the same problem all over again. And I wont ever sleep early on friday and saturday, I'd rather die than do that.

yes i know, but this is a problem that will become bigger and bigger...
you wake up tired, go to bed later because you cannot sleep, wake up tired and cannot sleep
go to bed earlier and you might still be awake for 2-3h, but at least you will be sleeping on a decent hour. You will get better sleep, less stress etc and you will automatically sleep better and faster than before.

You can choose when you'll start working? What do you do?

Something is bothering you. Whether its conscious or subconscious, something is bothering you.
I have a few questions for you. Cause as some people on here know, I dealt with insomnia and like 2 hours of sleep a day for a good year.
1. Anything traumatic happen recently? (death of family member/someone close, loss of job etc)
2. Does your mind race when you try and go to sleep?
3. Do you constantly move your legs or toss and turn?
If yes to any of those, go to the doctor. The Doc will give you anxiety pills that will take the edge off and allow you to relax and fall asleep. You may need them only for a month or maybe longer until you resolve the problem, but trust me, it helps man. Cause i've tried EVERY home remedy and nothing works.
Or, one thing you can try, if you have a tv in your room and a dvd player (tivo/dvr is better) put on a movie you've seen tons of times and then roll over and listen to it but don't think about it. Think about something that makes you happy or peaceful and u should fall asleep in 30 mins or so. Maybe a lil longer.
And if you haven't had sex for a long time, before bed, jerk off and then do what I just mentioned. Cause jerking off releases tons of endorphin's that will relax you and help you sleep (hence the reason men like to sleep after sex..but the same applies to women).
Or another thing you can try is find a game you have, that you've beat tons of times, use codes/a trainer so you can't die, have unlim money and other stuff and just play it.
Cause I usually run Mass Effect an hour or 2 before bed cause it relaxes me and by the time I want to sleep, Im relaxed, I throw on a Star Trek movie (seen em all 100 times...I have a DVR so I dont have to put in a dvd or anything), set the tv to go off in 3 hours, roll over and fall asleep.
But if I'm with my girl, then it's different. I just lay against her or she on or against me and I feel her breathing rhythm on my chest, close my eyes, slowly and gently run my hands over her back or her chest/front side of her body and I'm asleep in 20 mins....she falls asleep in like 5 tho. Hate that lol
If you wanna talk about sleeping stuff, pm cause I know LOTS about it. And I think some members here can attest to that.

Reading books has the opposite effect on me, I usually get way to excited after reading which then fucks up my sleep even more.
Last night I went to bed at 10.00 pm, I tossed and turned for about an hour before finally sleeping so thats a plus. Though it was probably cause of being fatigued at not sleeping enough during the week. I woke an hour earlier and couldnt go back to sleep until the alarm clock "woke" me up.
Thnx for your advices Syco, though jerking of before bed is a big no no for me and so is playing games.
I recently broke up with my girl but like I said its been like this long before I met her. Anxiety pills might be an idea but I hate taking pills and Swedish doctors are usually reluctant to just shove pills down their patients throuts. But I'm gonna book an appointment and see what happens.
1. nothing traumatic
2. Oh god yes, sometimes its like I have a few different thoughts going on at the same time.
3. again very much so, I'm wrestling the covers almost.

Ok cool. Cause it sounds to me like you have anxiety. And depending on how bad it is, you may get very mild stuff or heavy duty stuff. Prolly mild tho.
Good Luck

Has someone already suggested melatonin? It's especially effective for anxiety related sleep disorders as it bypasses the serotonin second messenger cascade.

Yeah I have trouble sleeping as well lately probably because my back hurts and I just can't get any shut eye. That and the fact I told this girl I will be her lover and her boyfriend saw the sms and now he is calling me at midnight and leaving threatening messages.

Yeah I do have anxiety stemming from years of low self esteem caused by a terrible stutter. I'm clear of my fears regarding speaking but the feelings are deeply rooted. Its a bitch but I will keep battleing it, keep growing.
@ ihzr, like I said no jerking of before bed so nope I dont read playboy. And btw im more of a hustler man |
Naw man. No side affects at all. Well, they may make you tired but thats about it.

Yeah acer, that also works if your sleeping problem isnt that bad. I do it sometimes. Chin told me about it a while back and it does work.
Or like AM mentioned, melatonin is good. You can find it in turkey. Buy some turkey (like lunch meat stuff0 from your local deli, warm it up (has to be warm) and eat it 30 mins before you lay down to sleep. My doctor told me this and I do it almost every night.

Melatonin is in turkey like I said. Just buy some turkey, warm it up, eat it before bed and it should help.
