But in telling people they shouldn't tell people what to do, you're telling them what to do. So was that a STFU to yourself?

Three and a half week or so, pretty normal actually.
(Some studios have better resources though so it might only take two weeks as a comparison but three weeks seem fully OK to me.)

EDIT:

But this is EA after all, I just remembered, so that doesn't seem like a good statement any more.

That said they'll have to print a few million copies which takes time and then for a multitude of different platforms as well which will take even more time.
(PS2, Wii, X360, PS3 and finally PC from what I know - Funny that the PS2 is still going on but I guess it's a bit different with PS2/PS3 than Xbox/Xbox360)

Do you actually play a character in 3rd person here or just send a bulk of gangsters to auto fight like a RTS game?

DLC details, weapon pack sounds fun but the rest isn't that interesting or useful and it's all overpriced for what you get.

aren't everything on mp, i mean 3 new weapons and couple of useless vehicles which break down just like any other already in the game for 800m$p is a rip off [talking about fc2]

so far the only dlc's worse buying are gta4 and mcla

remember BF: bad company ? Laughing
future of DLC : buy the game now and finish it by buying more DLC

this whole new DLC business is completely utter bullshit, it only works for games like fallout 3 or GTA IV, but stuff like "contains weapons" is as greedy as anyone can get...

$6.75
$4.00
$4.00
$10.00

holy shit that's $25 for DLC ??? someone is getting their greed out of hand Rolling Eyes
sell the whole game or get the fuck out of the industry you greedy fucks.

Unsure about that but I do know that the henchman is for the SP game (Same dude you get in the collectors edition.), probably helps early on when you only have lower-end "thugs" working for you.

I guess the weapons are for both MP/SP, for MP that might be a bit unbalancing but it depends on how it's set up. (Three tiers each being a step up and then this fourth tier over that, could create concerns for MP but would be fun in SP if that's how it is.)

The maps are MP only though and so is the "don control" game-type addon that's released with the game as a free stand-alone "patch" or what to call it.

EDIT: To clarify a bit regarding the above reply that last 10$ DLC bundles the others in as a single "unit"

*chuckles* While I honestly DO agree with you, I feel I should also point out that the $10 pack is "everything" -- it includes all the content from the three other packs.

So it's $10 for the lot, or if you just prefer xx out of xx, then you can buy one of the individuals.

I DO understand what you mean though, it really is just stupid.

=Edit=

Damn you JB, lol! You beat me to it.

fuck, I should buy glasses Very Happy
but still why not include the damn weapons and maps in the game is it's the way it's supposed to be, I'm not bothered by this much as I pirate the shit out of EA's games but if this DLC thing evolves ( which it definitely will) we're looking at a grim future

In my opinion DLC are fine if they add something substantial to the game at a good price point and at a shorter time than a regular expansion would take.

Think Pitt/Anchorage for Fallout 3 but better tested and less cumbersome. Smile
(Knights of the Nine perhaps and I'm sure some will also use Bring Down the Sky for the PC edition of Mass Effect but it was included in the price for the retail PC edition from what I understand and it seems a second DLC is planned and that won't be free.)

EDIT: Or Lost&Damned for GTA IV

Of course stuff like horse armor (Will be used forever as a example I guess.) and all these map/skin packs (Lol at the "DLC" for Dead Space for example.) aren't really worth multiple x.xx dollar payment for the little of value they bring as the costs pile up after a few purchases.

Then you have companies like Valve adding considerable updates to Team Fortress 2 for free or the upcoming L4D addon.
(Square also did pretty well with Remnant bundling all existing console DLC into the PC edition and the DLC for Two Worlds was free as well.)

Lastly some DLC do add a sizeable bunch of content at a good price but it can be debated if it's actually "useful" (Far Cry 2 DLC for example.) and then there's the annoying stuff with shipping what appears as missing parts of the game itself as a DLC.
(True ending for Prince of Persia 2009 for example and the recent Tomb Raider DLC)

Oh and there's the pre-order stuff as well like extra planes for HAWX and such.
(PC edition has a handy little unlocker though.)

Bit off topic but worth mentioning, micro transactions are the future and all that.
(Inspired by MMO's perhaps?)

Like you mate, I don't inherently hate DLC. I just hate the cash-cow DLC, stuff that - by all reckoning - should have been in the original game. I don't like having to pay 300-600MSP for a couple of extra weapons, or a new map. I like DLC to actually add something substantial to the game in question. Oblivion, except for horse-armour, seems to be winning on that front. After the armour fiasco, Beth started releasing some REALLY good stuff (all quest-based too, usually with decent sized quests at that)

GTA's new L&D is another good example, but the price is a bit much IMO.

I don't mind DLC that adds story content, missions/quests/characters and new weapons, like fallout 3, GTA IV and L4D, matter of fact I support them as they prolong the game and keep it alive

but "weapons/items only" and charging $$ for it that's complete bull, I mean what's a fucking weapon? a little model with poor texture and a slightly changed script? pfft should be in the game the day it shipped, they should at least be free...
