I looked at some gameplay videos on Youtube, and it looks pretty much (graphics and gameplay?) like Universe at War, basically generic sci-fi "us vs. them" story. If it wasn't called Halo Wars, it would have been just another mediocre game that people would play a bit and forget about.

I havent played it yet, but imagined it playing a lot like World in Conflict... more of an Action/RTS game. Was I close?

bah they should just put a controller, mouse and keyboard and a console into the next version of Xbox whenever it comes...
Would make most games playable and less "dumbed down" for both PC and Consoles. So the Devs have options to keep some games more complex control wise if they wanna make games for all versions of consoles or whatever.

i downloaded the demo today. And I have to say this is the best rts on consoles yet. The game has lot of action, controls are smooth and easy. But all the while, I was thinking if it had been on the pc, it would have been so much better. You basically select all units or units on the screen. The controls are forgivable in that it gives a wider circle of attack against enemy unit. So you dont have to click right on them to attack.Jumping between different groups is easy too. But I can see it becoming a chore with too many sub groups and bases. Overall, I guess its a good encore performance from the Ensemble guys. They delivered the best rts experience on the 360.

yeah, have played C&C3, World in Conflict, End War(totally different because of the vr), BFME2 and Supreme Commander and this right here is the simplest and most well done console RTS IMO!

Quote: | Ubisoft announces World in Conflict : Soviet Assault for the PC
Today Ubisoft announced that it will publish World in Conflict: Soviet Assault for PC in March 2009. World in Conflict: Complete Edition, the retail version of the much awaited add-on to the critically acclaimed strategy game will include the entire original World in Conflict title, as well as the Soviet Assault add-on and other exciting all-new features.
โThe teams at Massive Entertainment have worked hard to ensure that they are bringing new original content to the popular World in Conflict brand,โ said John Parkes, marketing director at Ubisoft EMEA/ Tony Key senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft North America. โFans have been eagerly waiting Soviet Assault, and Ubisoft is excited to be able to bring them great new material.โ Jan 22, 2009

That is the sad part, they canceled the xbox 360 because progress wasn't going to well.
Here is PR's news on the subject.
Quote: | Regarding the console versions of WiC:SA.
For the moment we are releasing Soviet Assault on PC only and have no plans at this time to release it or the Complete Edition on consoles. Without going into details, the console version at its current stage wasn't as good as we wanted it to be. Massive won't release a game that's not 100% what we expect it or want it to be.
And about original WiC and WiC:SA available over STEAM.
The Steam versions are a bit different from standard boxed retail versions, so a Soviet Assault expansion downloaded from Steam won't run with a store version of WIC. Same thing the other way around, a Steam WIC version won't run with a store version of Soviet Assault.

To bad, that would have been fun.

Region Free, means it works on any console and is not restricted to just PAL or NTSC region consoles like many 360 games are.

Who decides whether games are released region-free or otherwise? Is it MS, or the publisher? Does MS have to agree?
