The actual game itself is fine, just don't go into the setup car menu or it crashs, people that say it works for them are just lying as it seems too many people have the same problem yet no-one has that problem on the orginal,

well auto save works here can carryon where i left the game, just that damm car setup exit problem
here's hoping for a fully workn release lol

same probs here..only one more..cant calibrate logitech wheel...pad works fine..same crap was in previous colin games

Dude, thats a bit incorrect! ;]
In the target command line: "D:\Program Files\Codemasters\Colin McRae Rally 2005\CMR5.EXE" NOVIDEO. <- Exactly like that and the game should be running.

Car setup works for me. I installed 'Polish patch' supplied with colin. I also get 'protection error' without 'NOVIDEO' option, but as said on codemasters forums, its not crack related.

The protection error is due to nero.I have the original game and i got the same message.So you must uninstall nero,run game and after install last version of nero.Now colin and nero working ok for me

Yeap it language thing, but it overwrite some files. Maybe it overwrite something related with 'car setup' ?

found this about the setup problem from official forum:
4) Are you sure the game is crashing or has it just transferred control of the menus from the keyboard to your controller, as follows?
You can use your controller to navigate through the menus...
1) Left and right will control left and right scrolling
2) The hand brake and change view buttons will move the menus up and down
3) The gear change buttons will act as enter and escape

I tried the game with the NOVIDEO option and it worked pretty well. But I must say that the steering is messed up in this game. It also feels like the car is flying somehow.

Does the game work correctly installing a language different from English, apart from Polish (like French, German or Italian, for example)?
