Uk, argos are doing a deal whereby you get the 80Gig console and either LBP or Resistance 2 for £270 plus an HDMI cable.
Tempting deal but not that tempting. Already bought one PS3 and sold it due to it being an expensive paper weight. Want Killzone 2 but not for 270.

Find me a BD player for under 200 euro's that plays PS3 exclusives... oh wait, snap!

Nothing stopping you renting games. It's what I do for the non-exclusives or stuff I'm unsure about. You can also use the service for renting BD films; which are amazing btw

This is true (regarding multi-platform titles) but the question is; how noticeably, and the answer is; not very. If you have an Xbox already, as the OP does, then he knows where to do his multiplatform gaming. If you don't have an Xbox, and don't want one (say for example you're a PC gamer) then the difference is actually; nil. You won't notice or care (in fact if you're a PC gamer who games at 1080p at upwards of 100 FPS you probably find the argument moot, right?).

Sony provide a manual for swapping your hard-drive when you buy the PS3, so they fully expect you to upgrade it - it's built to slot out. Not ever having had to deal with repairs, and not knowing anyone who has either, I can only comment on what I've heard; and that is that they require the original hard-drive when sending in the PS3 for repair.

It costs about £11 off of the PSN store which is a steal considering how good, and fully featured the game is. The only downside is a lack of tracks, but hopefully they'll come out with some more.
While you're in the store, add these to your basket;
- Super Stardust HD
- PixelJunk Monsters
- PixelJunk Eden
The first two are essential must-have titles that practically everyone will enjoy. The third is a bit of a gamble as it doesn't always click - but if it does you'll be laughing as the minimilistic 1080p graphics and thumping bass is a joy to behold. Also make sure to set some funds aside for Flower and the Fat Princess both of which should be out sometime around February. Noby Noby Boy is another PSN game to keep an eye on, though I've no idea what is going on.
As for Resistance 2, I thought it was average at best. So unless you've played it already I'd probably save my money and spend it on something else... Like, oh I don't know, Valkyria Chronicles. I'm also a big fan of GT5p, but it's quite sterile so if you're not into realistic driving simulations (or cars in general) it's unlikely you'll get anything out of it. That said the replays are absolutely amazing, and I seriously want to fuck my TV every time one of those comes on.
Both SingStar and Buzz are good games for family and friends to gather around. White Knight Chronicles, SOCOM: Confrontation and Disgaea 3 will be hitting Europe eventually, and they seem worth a look if nothing else. There's also titles like Heavy Rain, Gran Turismo 5, Uncharted 2, God of War 3, Yakuza 3, a new Twisted Metal and (the creators of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus) Team ICO's next title to look forward to.

where i live they don't rent games anymore, they used to did 360 ones but that was over more than a year ago, usual excuse ppl scratch disks and we can't charge them for it coz we dunno who did that in a first place
i download my bd-rips which look nice enough, ty

i have decent pc and 360 [don't owe ps3 myself but saw it in action to notice the difference, in performance mainly

Come on we nearly did it, a ps3 thread with no fan boy arguments, even Sabin has has gone up in my estimation by not being his usual self.
The op is not asking whether to buy he's asking for what games.

1. its expensive as hell
2. there are next to no games for it.
Took me almost 2 years before I bought the 360 ^^

there is a good side to it though.. first version of the console, earliest firmware, you have the highest chance of exploits and shit in there, like for the 360 :P
of course you also get the highest chance of hardware problems.. like for the 360! ;-)
personally, I think one should buy a console when there is a game out that you absolutely have to play. For me that was metal gear solid 4 and disgaea 3.
Sure, it'll always become cheaper eventually, but you can't wait forever.
so if there is a launch title that you want you should go and buy it when it's released.
I did buy my original xbox when it first came out because I just had to play Halo.
It was worth it. Xbox 360 and PS3 had no launch titles that interested me enough to warrant an early purchase, but by now I have both consoles (although the 360 is dead so I guess I now only have a ps3)

.... so we should go out and buy the most expensive console on the market, just on the off chance that there MIGHT be a game released, perhaps, sometime in the future that we actually want?
Yeah, that's logical.

I did with the 360 (well, 2 days after UK launch). Well, that and I wanted Geometry Wars. £300 quid for an arcade game :/
I bought a PS3 under the assumption that MGS4 would be good. It wasn't (imo) so onto ebay it went.
But yeah, release day consoles are always shoddy. I was stuck with Perfect Dark for far too long.

i got my ps3 at xmas and i got it with LBP since then i have used it once to watch a blue ray and i played LBP twice it seems to be just gathering dust now, i have had my xbox some yrs and it just seems all round better more friendly and a complete package than ps3 i went on home and tried to download some demos which was painfully difficult to find as they mixed up with other stuff, and seemed slow with the demo start stopping and i just thought MAH.medals area no where near as good as gamer score ach's as well as plating with friend is much more difficult, maybe i will get used to it but ms seems to do everything better. What i will say is LBP community lvls are great.
As for framerate, the 360 version runs smooth, while the PS3 is a jaggy mess that chugs along in slow motion.

fuck this turning into a xbox 360 vs ps3 contest. It's stupid and immature people. I have all three consoles now (well, I will have when my PS3 arrives). The PS3 now has enough exclusives to make it a worthwhile purchase for the true gamer. The xbox 360 has probably had at least a year for this status mind you.
What I don't see the point in is argueing over which is better - it's stupid and pointless. For the most part, they're fucking identical, with some exclusives either side. Yes, the PS3 is more expensive, but you won't find a decent bluray player for the price difference between them - so quit the pointless flaming.

I bought my PS3 solely for God Of War 3, and bought my Xbox for Gear's of War 2, i could give a fuck about fanboyism and shit, it's what i like, and that's all i give a shit about, i see so many of these damn thread's about console vs console, what the fuck ever happened to the off-chance that people buy their console's because they actually enjoy a certain game on a particular platform, not just to prove which has the bigger erect penis, aggravate's me these damn console war's.

That may not be too far off. Can now play PS2 games from the HDD so thats a start.
Plus the price of BD blanks being cheap is a plus.

It doe's have PS2 support, it just doesn't support "every" ps2 game, i've played all my PS2 game's on my PS3 when i first got it.
EDIT: it's previous model based, seem's those fucker's at sony removed PS2 support in later model's, that has to be the shittiest move i've ever seen from any single company.
