I had great performance on my 4850 on max settings at 1280x1024 .. using a program/mod I can't even remember the name for Sad

All I can remember is that it had configs called "levels" (ie: Level 5. Max graphics, no motionblur or DoF)

Gahhh, I wanna find that app again.

=Edit=

Found you, ya bastard! It was called CCC Very Happy

http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=18999

Awesome tool and it realllllly works too. Running Lv5 config setting I get around 35-55fps at 1280 on Crysis and Crysis Warhead. Lv5 is equivalent of max settings minus the blur and depth of field.

The only "patch" that will be able to eliminate the "suck" atribute in your valid context is a brand new shiny 380GT nVidia card alongside a defaulted 4GHz quad CPU that any "enthousiast" will obviously OC to 5GHz.

I doubt even that would do it, haha.

Still.. thanks for that; I didn't even know there WAS a 380, just doing some googling now. Is that the "official" name or the codename?

Hehe ofc it's not official. Razz I was just following a pattern in the nVidia tech line of marketing. I am just assuming the next series of GeForce cards will be named 3xx. Wink

When it comes to first person shooters I am a doomed man. Been playing way too much CS years ago. Meaning that I am incredibly sensitive to mouse lag or FPS drop. Thus if the FPS drops below 30 in any of the 2 Crysis game I lose all satisfaction of playing.

And yea, ofc I am a graphic whore and I want all settings maxed. But only when it comes to Crysis. I think it's quite an isolated, understandable and permitted case. Smile

Seriously man, check out CCC if you haven't already. I think you'll be astounded by the performance.

Well, that sounds nice. But what about firefights, later frozen levels, large areas with tons of objects on screen and the final boss fight? Smile

I REALLY doubt you don't get below 30 or even 20 FPS.

NOTE + EDIT

I've been using Cuban's config a while but I prefer to stick to my own settings (Autoexec.cfg with dx10 "on the fly"). After hours of testing I noticed a smoother performance with my .cfg using (visual) settings more to my liking. Cuban's is IE too dark and too artificial for me.

But that's just me, ofc.

Smile

Au contraire, dear pal. I am actually glad (for you). Your performance is actually good news for me.

So there is hope, after all.

I used Lv5 config which disabled DoF/MBlur .. and I'm glad for that, too much blur in the game as it is Sad

The only games I can think of that really implemented motion blur well are Crysis and Lost Planet. Other games have tried it, but none have had such great results.

I always found it ranging from a minor annoyance, to an incredibly large annoyance. Especially as Mblur almost always comes at a premium in performance loss Sad

I personally love that effect Smile
Would you still consider Motion Blur an annoyance if it didnt cause the great performance loss?

If it didn't cause ANY performance hit whatsoever (and on a game like Crysis, performance is key) then I might be more inclined to deal with the fact that every millimeter of mouse movement causes the screen to swim and sway out of focus like I was blind-drunk.

Oh wait... no, I really wouldn't.

I concur with sabin, motion blur is annoying and I disable it in any games I can. Blur is another of those annoying effects that developers seem to love. Some games do blur decently, but in way too many games the effect is waayy too strong.

Another game with awesome motion blur is hl2 ep2. Most people never even noticed it because valve did it so well.

Motion blur is ok in some games, but not many do it as well as in HL2. Racing games tend to get the best use out of it, as when racing at high speed you kinda get a "tunnel-vision" effect when motion blur is in play. The rest of the time it just ends up like I described ^^ Drunk-o-vision Sad

Apparently there's no need for such thing. At least for the x64 .exe.

Well, up until this patch there was only a 32bit EXE, so not much choice. Wink But I played at max settings at 1650x1080 resolution and got 30-60 (with vsync), with occasional dips into 20 when 5 trucks explode at once... Smile

I don't have Crysis [Warhead] anymore, so can't give you the files you asked about.

Atten-hut!

Heil Raap!

He concurred, the decision is final, all must obey! Personal opinion and taste are out of the question! Resistance is futile!

Everyone disable motion blur in all games at once!

Or else!

Hey man, ALL our posts are good. Even the BS ones ^_^

In all seriousness, and to stay on topic, ever since digging out the CCC - I'm considering reinstalling the Crysis games. I didn't hate them, per-sè, I just expected more from such a hyped game. Plus I'm getting my 4870-1GB in a few weeks.. I'm itching for something to test it out on!

Yeah I got this once, hard froze at 99%, never happened again for some reason... Also patch makes magical things happen on my config, like big black squares and white pixels show when zooming in on trees... Seems to do something with dx10 effects with semi-transparent objects from reading some posts of others experiencing the same. Heh, some patch eh?
