Watch the fucking High Res video of Redwood Falls. It is the 360 version of the game. I don’t know where all this “Cancelled PS3 exclusive” bullshit came from, but I’m sorry that you cant take time to watch a video and be proven wrong. It may have only been announced on the PS3, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t going to PC or other consoles. Redwood Falls is in fact scrapped if any of you got your hopes up. The video was a demo from GDC 2007

There really will be an announcement on this game and it will be shown off at GDC next month. As a bonus, the game looks to ship late Q3 to mid-Q4 in 2009. Yes. This year. Now that doesn’t mean it will happen

dunno how much weight his insider info carries after this stunt, but there ya go.

They better show off some real gameplay footage and not another stupid trailer. And still don't believe it'll come out this year...

Completely forgot about this game. Pretty sure it's going to be a total failure given the time in development and hype surrounding the game combined.

I'm not saying Alan Wake is going to suck, because I don't think a long development cycle equals a bad game, I mean, I love all of Blizzards games, and they take their time.

But S.T.A.L.K.E.R, did suck, terribly when it was released. And even now, it leaves a lot to be desired... Yes, it's not horrible now. But it had so much potential, and it was nowhere near what the devs had intended for it. With lots of mods, it's a pretty good game, with some great ideas but I still remember all the things they showed us (things they had to remove from the game, pretty late in development). I still feel it's really sad and I still hope they'll try and incorporate some of those things back for a future S.T.A.L.K.E.R (or a different new game all together). They have all the right ideas.

During a dev cycle, a lot of things can change, for good, or for bad. Obviously, things have changed for the worse for Alan Wake right now, and thus, Remedy is reluctant to give anything away until they make sure it's good again, whatever it is that they're not happy with. I respect that in a company. Blizzard has that amazing quality as well.

+1
Yes, it wasn't a perfect game (spawning was annoying), but it has the most intelligent AI to date. Didn't notice any bugs either.

Now Clear Sky, I thought: why on earth did they bother?

Yondaime wrote:

I think that rhetoric is a bunch of balooney. It is normal for many (not everyone is like EA/Ubi, which go crazy with expectations for their games) development houses to wet the journalists and gamers fantasies with a bunch of screenshots or videos - then shut up for months or even years, until close to release.

I think there's no fact at all that say things are "worse" for Alan Wake. Heck, why on earth would they? (and more to the point, what would be?) There's no reason to bassume that, especially with an experienced developer such as Remedy.

I suppose there are those that "get it", and those that don't "get it". The atmosphere, the design, the style, it all made the game into more than just another shooter. If we ignore the bug fest in the beginning I'd place it in my Top 3!!!

When it comes to Alan Wake, right now it's a 'race' between DNF and Alan Wake. It'll be interesting to see which one is released first. Wink

Same, bud. Yep.. the game WAS buggy on release, but a couple mods later and the game is securely in my Top5. I adored the game - and still do.

Clear Sky was great, just more of them same with prettier graphicsa.. it was just a shame about the ridiculous sysreqs.

There was a snippet about Vista's failure as a gaming platform on the finnish tietoviikko.fi, there was also some mentions about Alan Wake. No point translating the whole thing, but the comment from Alan Wake development director shouldn't come as a surprise (free translation):

Quote:
We're developing the game primarily for Xbox 360, which is more important as a platform also for Microsoft. We'll get most sales from there.

No idea if this has been mentioned here yet - the article is just a few days old. I just sincerely hope they won't downgrade the pc version capabilities in favor of the 360.

Halo 2 was not DX10, it was just made Vista-exclusive so Microsoft could push Vista as a gaming platform. Remember that Halo 2 is an Xbox game, not 360 game (although the 360 is backward compatible to run Halo 2).

Shadowrun was locked to Vista for pure marketing purposes:

Quote:
System requirements: Nvidia Geforce 7800 or ATI Radeon X1800

Both those cards are DX9, so no, they're not DX10-games.
