CPU2 18%
CPU3 12%
CPU4 99%

core4 is always maxed out while the other 3 cores are hardly been used,i think this demo/game is not quad core optimised & maybe its why the game keeps stuttering. i dont know.

its nice game better than fear, its not so arcade style like fear
only stutters until now only in savepoints
i liked it, on max all 1280*1024 plays fantastic
the bad thing i cant remove the target cross

then maybe is a quad core issue, like fucking nfs undercover.

did you try change the affinity ?

It's not related to the cpu used. The data is incorrectly streaming. I got a dual core and also have these minor freezes. But they appear very seldom...

FEAR was much better. This shits definitely been infected by consolitis. The HUD is terrible, the AI is stupid, the Mech part feels like a Japanese arcade game, everything is scripted, you get too many weapons too quickly, the gore looks too fake (was better in original FEAR, again) and whats with the constant auto saving after killing every 3 or so enemies? You can't use your mouse wheel to scroll messages, everything is big and obvious (weapons surrounded by GUI boxes, grenades are massive, everything glows), and its full of fake weapons. FEAR's were semi realistic with the SPAS12 and the MP5K looking thing but now its just gotten plain silly.

i played the latest fear expansion few days ago ( perseuse mandate )so i have very close impression, and..today i finished the demo and i must say that it feels preety the same as the first pack, i mean graphic is more or less the same and i know people say that games are not only about the graphic, but for me it is the most important thing..i want to see as mutch realistic and convinience as possible, and i expect of new games to show new graphic levels and new effects, and don't understand me wrong! i love fear and i loved the expansions, but too mutch of the same is boring..kinda disapointment this demo..i hope the game it self will be good to cover.

Whats with the new pointless 'hud' screen did anyone else feel like it just kinda 'got in the way'?. Nice to see they kept the melee in it, and the ability to turn over the furniture for cover is a nice touch.

The demo was pretty short and sweet but it seemed they tried to cram a lot into 10 mins of gameplay. (Got a smg, combat shotgun, automatic rifle, sniper rifle, laser, missile launcher and that power armour which was convieniantly left there for you rather cheaply just to show it off they may as well have given you the rail gun too?.... (Where are the pistols??) Hoping thats not most of what the full game has to offer already in that short demo.

Still, there a few creepy bits going on in there.. the sound/music was coming through nicely I thought. I didn't think too highly of the original fears SP campaign anyway (too many offices, warehouses and corridor levels) but I liked the original game enough for me to buy this one when it comes out+ Monolith have usually made good PC games before in the past so i'm hoping it won't be too disappointing.

Didn't I read somewhere that they crammed that much content just for the demo and that it'll be different in the full game? Also, I really like how the environments are varied and well detailed this time around, always hated the bland offices and corridors in the first game.

the absurdly boring environments is what i remember from fear1, while the rest of the game kinda faded away Smile

You know, this is a DEMO from the actual game. If you remember the demo from the first one, they did pretty much the same thing: crammed a couple of different locations from the game to the demo level.

So maybe you and everybody else bitching(aside from the HUD comment, that should be final unfortunately) should wait for the actual game. Rolling Eyes

As long as you enjoy the game it doesn't matter if others bitch or not. There never was and probably never will be a perfect game that everyone will like the same, because everyone is different. Some of the bitching in this thread is ridiculous and retarded while other bitching has valid points but I don't really care much about it coz I like this game just like FEAR1.

thats funny the first thing that came into my mind while playing was :''wow this is so much arcade now it stinks console, I prefer FEAR 1 much more'' everything glows, physics suck, models are lame big and bulky like gow, graphics arent that better, particle effects are lame compared to fear 1 how is that for improvement ?

Loving FEAR 1 alot, this makes me sad, to see how the game gets dumbed down because of consoles its not fair they ruin our game.

. Enemy's are way to weak and they take ages to realize you are there, maybe you made this because you removed peeking, again it doesnt work.

Sensitivty is crazy, i cant play this game properly when everytime i move my mouse 2-3cm on my mousepad i do a 720 or some crazy stuff. Also make the sensitivity meter a number system, like most other games, so you can be specific like in halflife i always use 5, a slider is just to old fasion.

I don't know but i feel that the AI is much worst than the one in FEAR.

- Framerate problems.

- Glowing Enemies/Weapons/Items: Now, while I will admit during slowmo I didn't really notice the glowing enemies that much. It stills is a bit much. And in a few areas I knew I needed to go into a room because the item highlights could be seen through walls. A simple option to disable these highlights/glows would be greatly appreciated and could make for a more atmospheric experience.

Indeed the smoke effects aren't as rich as in FEAR1. With the support of soft particles, it would be awesome if the ammount of smoke was the same as in FEAR1

- the AI has been dumbed down (thank you PS3/360 little or no branch predictor)

here are inconsistencies of the game design that make it feel less realistic that FEAR 1, i.e, the enemies naturally take cove and LEAN, which is natural, but YOU CAN'T. Really FEAR 2 devs, what were you thinking?.

Suttering:

The little freezes (around 1 or 2 sec) which appear each time before an action phase... even on a good PC configuration, it ruins the pleasure.

I get it on my 360, so I think it's a loading hiccup rather than a graphical thing.

I have the exact same pausing/hitching/lagging issue. My system is:

well...played the demo, short as it is, there were a few things i want to say...how the fuck is the UI any bigger than the first game? its not, if anything its slightly less in your face, i got the hitching freezing, but that didnt detract from my enjoyment of the demo, but it did make me think one thing....

ill be doing the same with the full game as i did with FEAR...ill "demo" it

i'm surprised no one is bitching about the loading... to load a level it takes like 2 min (stuck at 50% for ages), and it's around the same when dying and reloading... wtf with this ? It remembers me Unreal 1 and its horrible loadings...

WTF, all the stuttering is because the loadings are so fast. They load just the tiniest section of the level, and before a firefight, they load extra content.

well i remember you had to wait ages to load the menu since it was a "fly" level... I played it with a K6 II 350Mhz i think and the game ran well except the loadings.. Anyway FEAR 2 loadings are HORRIBLE and if you die you have the time to go pee

Just finished it. It's nice, but is it just me or the controls really suck. I'm gonna have to change all of the keys when the full game comes out.

Also there's a weird orange thing that appears when you shoot enemies, I think it tells you where are you hitting them... it's awful.
