Most of the pausing expierienced in the game is more than likely the game saving "checkpoints" like in FEAR1 but it is not making you aware of the fact, decent game, is very consolish as previously mentioned but seems like a good true sequal all the same from the demo

Nick

its not the saving checkpoints, because i have alot of "pausing", in the end is almost unplayable.

i dont undertstand this. lol

Decent as a shooter, but really lame scares. A game that tries to be scary 99% of the time is never going to get scary, Doom3 had the same problem. Dark atmosphere in a whole game is also extremely tedious (don't know if it's the case here, but probably), it needs to evened out.

Gfx was ok but its very obvious it runs on an old engine. Didn't like the first one at all, will probably play this if i get desperate enough though.

I just finished the demo, like i was expecting , it is a fantastic game, one thing i didnt like its the console stuff, black bars, interface, the help ( press R to reload omg),

but wtf, im having alot of suttering....at the end is almost unplayable. anyone with same problem?

Q9450 2.6ghz
ATI 4870 1GB
4GB RAM

Like I said in the above post same here. Seems to be affecting only ATI users...and considering that my current system is a lot crappier than yours I presume it has to do with their drivers than with some imaginary bottleneck(like I read in a few other threads).
Try googling the problem and see what comes up.
I couldn't enjoy my new graphics ever since I bought it...damn crappy drivers. I hope they find a fix for this real soon. With the exception of a few games(Crysis, FarCry 2) the performance is excelent on the ATI 4000 series.

AMD 3800X2
ATI 4850 512MB
2GB RAM

yeah, if you have the same problem, then it is some shit wrong with ati users. driver or its the fucking game, they normally screw ati users, and only optimize the game for nvidia users (not always but it happens).

you need to make an upgrade to your CPU, thats why you dont have good performance, your CPU is holding back your gfx card.

Scariest game I played is probably Dead Space. If you have 5.1 speakers and play that game...man it's Alien/Aliens all over

Roll a couple of pages back and you'll see it's a general problem. NV users seem to be getting the same freeze issue.

Too bad it sounds like you never playing Undying.. or Alone in the Dark(original).. or even Aliens vs Predator(original). Dead space or anything else doesn't hold a candle to those. It is crappy that throwing a alien/monster/zombie in front of the player every few seconds of gameplay is devs idea of scary. From the previews I thought Dead space might just live up to the old scary games, since they say they took a lesson from japanese game devs-who still manage to make decent scary games. But yeah, turned out same thing. No pacing, no downtime, no perfectly timed scares. Just alien after alien to shoot. Sad

Undying was somewhat scary, but nothing comes close to Silent Hill series. Siren 1,2 and Fatal Frame (Project Zero) series are pretty scary too.

Played Alone in the Dark on the PS1 and Aliens vs Predator, Silent Hill on PC...I guess it's to far back for me to remember. But ok, let me correct my statement. Scariest game 2008 was "for me" Dead Space Wink.

I have to agree with upstart_69...Finished Silent Hill series and the best horror game is by far Undying. I loved exploring the hunted mansion and uncovering the family secret. It's the best Clive Barker game that I played to date. I remember finishing it at about 5 or 6 in the morning. Tried replaying it but the graphics are a bit outdated. Still a very nice game for those that need a good scary game.

Didn't play Fatal Frame though...didn't play many scary exclusive console titles for that matter. I liked Dead Space but it's more action then horror in my book, closer to Resident Evil's survival horror type of gameplay.

The first FEAR was a good scare but since we're only reviewing a demo of about 10 minutes of gameplay I can't say that this is better or worse.

The last part with the robot was 'wow'. Really enjoyed it. Most of time i was just mindlessly shooting just to listen to the wonderful sound effects and watch the buildings turn to dust and smoke.
I had the sudden small freezes too but apart from them the game is really optimized and it ran pretty well on my rig (4870 + E8600). Hope they fix this problem in the remaining 10 days...

i really hope this isnt another SHITTY port, because im getting tired of this shit.

these motherfuckers released the original fear only on PC, and it was awesome, the game came with a benchmark option, maybe one of the first games with this option, and good gfx & good performance, and it was one of the best fps i ever played on PC.

now the demo is pretty good yes, but theres console shit in it, the interface, black shitty bars, the help fuction (press R to reloaded Rolling Eyes ), and the amazing suttering... if they dont fix it until the release day im going to be pissed.

and of course the game on consoles should run pretty good without any suttering shit, as normal this days.

sry for the rude language, but it is needed Evil or Very Mad

apart from the "pausing" every 5 seconds the game is quality, good feel to the weapons also nice selection, the graphics are decent & better than the first FEAR,shooting enemies is satisfying & if you dont kill them just watch them limp away . lol

not as high quality as killzone2 on the ps3 but online multiplayer should make this the best pc fps thus far. Wink

too bad the PC version is a console port ... those washed up textures , low polygon models .... demo works fine no problems here (jugging you know what a pc is ... some here still doesn't know and it shows... stutters what stutters if you run shit in your background you get stutters Rolling Eyes ) but comparing the texture quality and maps (i mean the map size... some trolls here will fuck up a fight about it) from the first fear ... fear 2 looks weak more like a candid version of Doom3 with more corridors and less shadows...
now lest hope this story medium will deliver its story

ill never understand why people whine about graphics when half of the game is in the dark and you can hardly see shit anyway
