Does anyone here have experience with watercooling? I want something new to play with and was wondering how efficient is it compared to aftermarket coolers. Ive read about it and looked at some parts from http://www.performance-pcs.com and to me it doesnt really look that hard to install (am i missing something or was it really mainstreamed so everyone could do it?). But how efficient are they from your personal experience if you tried it?
I have an aftermarket cooler on my q9550 oced to 3.7 Ghz and while priming it is about 65C and is about 35-40 on idle on high fan speed of the cooler, it is usually cooler but Cali had a sudden heat wave so ambient temp is pretty high. Will i see a significant temp reduction? Also any recommendations on a starter kit with good price/performance ratio, my budget is about $200 since im just starting out and want to try it. Right now I would want just a CPU cooling but I want it to be expandable so i could cool my VC if i needed to so i dont want a dedicated cpu cooler.
Thanks for any input.

but the pudget system link is a nice twist on the usual (and yucky) "salad oil in an aquarium" thing...gonna try that out with my next system (and pimp the shit out of it in the process). too bad fishes can't survive in the oil |
slo mo fishies
you could put a separate container of fishes in a container of oil so the fish wont be bothered by it

I was surfing that website i posted and some coolers seem nice in price, but i have no idea how to perform. They also have those cool cpu dedicated WCoolers that look nice, compact, but i want to OC my vc too.
My comp is pretty quite, all of my fans run at low so noise is no problem, i just wanted to push my cpu as far as i can and obviously air coolers can do so much. Still im happy with my zalman 9700 cooler, on high it keeps my oced cpu in good temp range.
Sig too big. -Nothing is too big for Fedor. Expect a nasty armbar.

yeah but that thing would have to go up to the top, so air+food can get in there...and it would have to be quite small to fit in=not much place for the fishies. and if that thing ever leaks, it's snafu for the system. but i'm thinking of putting a kinda "flat" (~3cm in depth) acryl box in front of it and put water+fishes in it, to get the illusion of them swimming in the pc
@Krest: if you really want to push your cpu, you could also think about tec coolers (peltier element+air cooler combos - extremely easy to set up, no water involved), or even compressor cooling. but if you're set on watercooling, i would extend it to not only include your video card, but also the northbridge and what most ppl forget about: the voltage transformers (those little fuckers get get way too hot due to increased voltages when OCing and missing airflow when using WC)
