|
 |
Well I've been thinking about buying a mp3 player for some time, but previously I couldn't make up my mind and ended up buying a new phone instead. But now that it's christmas and my girlfriend wants me to say what I wish I'm looking into getting. First when she asked I just blurted out that I wanted an ipod. But after thinking about it I'm not so sure. So I thought about getting some help - from you guys here. My budget is 100-200$
What I'm looking for is an mp3 player foremost, it doesn't have to be able to play movies allthough that would be nice. If that has to be sacrificed for better sound, no problem.
Great sound is vital, it doesn't have to a stylish player as long as it delivers on the sound. Allthough if it can deliver both, great!.
Lastly, it should have a good user interface, I'm planning on using it when I start running(new years resolution!!! watch out! fat slob rollin'!). Anyh00t, it would be a pain if I couldn't control the mofo even while in full sprint.
Some other things that has come to mind:
- FM radio would be nice.
- HD or Flash, either is fine.
I don't care if its from apple, Samsung, Creative or whatever kind of company that makes those things, as long as the quality is good.
Thanks in advance
Hardware: Ryzen 3700x, B450 MSI Gaming Pro carbon AC, GTX1080, 32 GB 3200 Mhz cas 14, 256 EVO SSD, 1 TB EVO SSD and 4 TB HDD.
Console: xbox, wii and xbox 360

Well..if you're going to be using it to jog/run..you need a flash based player..HD players will skip/screw up as you run. And i have to say, apple sets the benchmark IMO for all mp3 players. Pretty much ALL accessories are made for ipods..itunes interface is easy to use..and ive had good luck with my ipods. I have an ipod shuffle to workout/jog in, and an old ipod photo that i use for the rest of my music. The photo used to stay in my car the entire time hooked into my car stereo system..and i would just use the shuffle at the gym/jogging. The nano wouldnt be a bad choice for you either, but the space is kind of limiting. Like i said, there are pros/cons to each of the available ipods, so you have to choose what features are the most important to you. (or just buy 2 of them like i did and call it a day)

I suggest you check out
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/
pretty good informative website
I have Samsung P2 with Korean firmwire which supports lyrics and has dictionary but cons are it does not play FLAC files and there is no SDK, bluetooth is a plus and there is DNSe which lets you play around with sound...I love it.. but I also have not bad headphones from CrossRoads MylarOne and bass is amazing
You can also play movies but have to convert them to SVI, there is new version Samsung P3 coming out but there is nothing new so, I guess I will be waiting for samsung P4 >>

I have this one. Love it.

I'll never own an ipod, ever. The only reason their so popular is because they know how to market. Having to install all the bullshit bloatware just to put a song on your mp3 player is ridiculous. Mine I just plug in, it shows up like a flash drive or something, drag n drop and wallah.

Thanks for the answers, highly appreciated.
well after checking out anythingbutipod.com, I'm considering the Sandisk sansa Fuze 8 gb. It is supposed to have excellent sound quality. But the dice is still in the air and I will continue to read some reviews and user opinions.
What about ear plugs? any recommendations? As I want to start running they should be comfortable while running.

Whats wrong with the new iPod Nano 8GB ????
Its just super in all ways...and the design just kicks anythings ass big time!.
As for earplugs I would go for AKG K 321 "In Ear" design, and really good sound!.

From what I've read the 4th generation nano has somewhat poor sound quality. Also, Itunes, Don't know if it can be avoided but I would prefer something that works like a HD, where you drag over the mp3, flacs etc. you want to play.
About the AKG earphones, are they comfortable to use while running and how is the bass? they seem, pardon, kind of cheap.

AKG have a full range of headphones of course. If you don't mind a higher price tag get these for example
SENNHEISER CX 550 STYLE II around 65-100€
I prefer "In Ear" style as it gives you more bas and shuts out sound from the outside.

BUMP.
Well being the dumbass that I am whilst drunk, I managed to lose my mp3 player.
Thinking of getting a Samsung P2.
I believe I've said on here that I'd rather have AIDS than anything made by Apple, but am I being ridiculous? Just thinking the other choice would be an iPod touch...

Only thing P2 lacks is no SDK..and built in games get boring after a while but its mp3 player after all
P3 is coming out soon but its just P2 with newest firmwire and new look, no new features I think
Kinda dissapointed with samsung for not releasing sdk :/

yeah, starting to see sales because of the imminent P3 launch in north america ... and yeah, I'm much more interested in mp3/video playback in a small form.
actually just missed a $100 off the 16gb model ($270 down to $170) that started on friday, all of the local futureshop stores where it's on sales (just a big box electronics store) are sold out, as well as sold out online. Shouldn't be too long before they have the same sale when they get new stock.

video can be only played in .svi..so you would have to convert all the video you want, that quality is good, watched clerks I & II couple months back on it
also p2 does not support .flac so you are stuck with .mp3
but I like it, best 200$ I spent on mp3 player..plus touch screen..most people would think its an itouch! HA

Just go to your local Best Buy or whatever and find one that suits you. They are basically all the same. Fuck, I bought my niece a 16gb mp3 player for xmas (dont know what brand) and it only cost me like 200 or 300 bucks...maybe less, cant remember. Just grabbed it cuz I knew she wanted one and I didnt want to get her a cheap ass 1gb player...so I went for the biggest size they had at the store.

O.o
MP3 players differ in terms of:
- memory size
- memory type (flash vs. HD)
- screen size
- screen resolution
- screen aspect ratio
- # of colours used in display (most common 256K colours vs. 16.7 million)
- type of LCD display (LED vs. OLED)
- physical size of player
- design of player and materials used
- weight of player
- interface (physical buttons vs touch screen)
- supported audio formats
- supported video formats
- proprietary vs. standard cables
- software interface
- firmware updates/support by company
- included apps
- support for 3rd party applications
- battery life
- included headphones
- and perhaps most importantly, audio quality

yeah, thats true but I meant that dude I assume ppl knew that.
And as for headphones, I never use the headphones that come with the player. Usually, they suck. I buy the headphones separate. The headphones I bought for my niece are nice, cost me 69.99.
My niece's MP3 - sound quality is really good, 16gb space, good interface, nice lcd screen, standard cables, great battery life (I think it runs on 2 or 3 AAA and it will play continuously for like 12 or 16 hours...i just bought her a bunch of AA and AAA energizer batteries), screen size is good and in colour (not just say a blue background with black lettering for everything), weighs very little and I dunno about apps or anything like that. Its not touch screen, reg buttons and doesn't play video.
Fuck, she's 11 and wanted it for school and when her parents drag her to places she doesnt want to go or when they go on long car rides.
Last Xmas i bought her a nice stereo for her room cuz my stupid brother wont let hr have a tv in her room.
I think this year (she turns 12) she's allowed to have a tv in her room so im gunna buy her a decent size tv and an xbox 360 for her bday.
Cuz my brother has a PS2 and she has games for it but he barely lets her play it. So for her 11th bday I bought her a DS. And every time her report card comes out or she gets B+ or higher on tests for a month I buy her a game for it.
My 1st nephew is way cheaper to buy for. I buy him pure superhero action figures, comics (my brother reads them to him or I do when I see him) and for xmas I bought him both Batmans, all 3 Spiderman's, The Incredible Hulk, all 3 X-Men and Ironman.
Anything superhero related he loves lol
And my 2nd nephew is a toddler and fuck, I spent like 50 bucks on him cuz he gets spoiled by my parents and my brother and his wife. And really, he had more fun with the boxes than the toys on xmas.

I have a ipod video (5th gen) 30Gb bought it for 100€ (NEW) and it 0wnz. Yeah itunes sUCKS but fuck it! |
Tradesman dude But I make decent money. Right now 35/h. 3 month from now, 42.50/h...been off work for a while so I cant go right back to my reg 45/h right away.
Its not great money, but its decent and I only support myself ya know? And I dont drive so I dont spend money on gas and shit. All I have to spend money on is reg bills and food. Rest is all extra. I save, pay off debts (my ex maxed out 2 of my credit cards, still paying one of em off, fuckin bitch) and buy whatever.
And I like spoiling my niece and nephews cuz I dont have kids of my own and prolly wont for atleast another 3 or 4 years if im lucky (I want kids now but Im not in a relationship/serious relationship with a woman and I want the right woman to have kids with...not just get some chick pregnant ya know?).
