They first said the game would be free for one year. But thats at least 2 years ago. Guess its free forever then. You have to buy the expansions. But thats it?
Well, played some weeks when it became free. Quite cool game. A little more grown up MMO.

Yeah AO is amazing. I gave 2 years of my life to it, back when it was a new game, and I would never trade them back

Oh ginge, you annoying mofo. I've just increased my list of annoying people on this forum to three(yeah, you must be special).
I gave much more than that actually, before that I played AoE for 3 years on the Zone, after AO I played SWG, then I played EQII, then WoW for a year(and I even ran a fansite), and now I would play Vanguard for days and nights if I had time.
And when I play, I play for 6+ hours a day.
And now, what exactly is sad about that? You have things that make you happy, I have things that make me happy. (Sticking your nose in other peoples business seems to be one of them)

try getting out of the house more 
but really i dont give 2 foooooks about what other people do they can do whatever they wish it is there life after all so really if you enjoy it do it

I played Neocron when it first hit beta. I really liked the game and pulled off perhaps one of the biggest robberies in history. There was a clan that loved to victimize newbies and I would often find myself killing their members whenever I saw them doing this. They also happened to be the richest clan. So I came up with a idea to bring justice once and for all.
I made a new character and contacted a leader of the clan to send me a invite and claimed that my other character was part of the clan (I just picked a random name off a list) I then was accepted and went into the clans apartment and robbed them blind. I stole 400 billion off of them and then transferred that money to my main. It instantly made me the richest player in the game (You can search up the richest clans and players in game) so it didn't take long before they figured it out that I did it. Meanwhile I was going up to newbies and handing them 1 million credits each and attracted large crowds of players around me. I was often called Robin Hood.
I reinstalled my anti PVP chip so that way the clan couldn't do anything to me. While they were getting slaughtered because no one liked them even other clans eventually their members dropped like flies.

Haha, that must have been so much fun. All I can find is a free 10-day trial for Neocron Evolution or something like that. Am I at the wrong place?

Very good job
This is part of what made the good old neocron times, theres a lot of us who miss that,not to mention that trying it out again for free is great for packet sniffing

Been toying around with a new psi monk I made, obviously an inquisitor of the Crahn Sect - Never tried DoY
It made me remember just how easy it is to get lost in the game, you get your own apartment and your own terminal.
Both of which can be upgraded of course.
But through the terminal you can access everything from an ingame BBS, buy stocks, reply to mails, get missions, communicate with other players, read the neocronicle, troll on forums; it really gives the impression that your character is part of this cyberpunk alternate reality world inhabited by everything from soldiers to politicians, all of which are only in it for their own gain, possible at a cost to you.
It reminds me how little cyberpunk there is in a game like Eve Online and just how much there is in Neocron.
The game really is a diamond amongst jewels, even if the graphics are not up to par.

It's been free for a while, hasn't it? Or is this something new?
I remember trying it again not too long ago, at any rate. It was a ghost town, and I got fed up with trying to find a poker.. let alone a constructor or researcher.
Shame, too. As I still consider this my favorite MMO yet (I've played many) but without a healthy amount of players, there's little point sticking around.

There was quite a lot of players online tonight, the server population was measured in two decimals, first time in a long while I think.
The game has been made "indefinitely" free to play. |

Oh hell yeah, mate! Thanks!! I freaking LOVED playing Neocron back when it first came out!!

Well, I probably screwed up.. but meh! I created a new account for NC (PayPal is gone now, had to use ClickPay) and even though the forum says "all accounts are free now" - I guess I'll find out in 10 days when/if ClickPay suddenly whips €30 out of my account for the game and the €5/mo fee.
Hmm.
Still, I remember loving the game when it first came out, so I guess it's worth the paltry €5 a month.

I still have my maxed out Rifle Spy... oh the memories of sniping noobs from the top of the mountain at MB, haha. Totally don't know how to play it properly anymore, though! Feels very alien.
Guessing it might be easier to reacquainte myself with the game by rolling a new character.
