Yep, that is the app size of the latest disc burning software for the Mac - Roxio Toast Titanium 10.
Seriously, WTF ??? Why all companies start to bloatware their apps. Nero on PC, Toast on Mac. Sad

In general - yes, but it is due to universal binaries. Apps containing executables, libraries for both architectures i386 & ppc.

As for VLC it is actually smaller on a Mac than on PC. (nice surprise, didn't expect it Smile )

Sizes for whole package and not for executable.
VLC 0.9.8a
- Win : 60.0 MB
- Mac (universal binary) - 86.8 MB
- Mac (Intel only) - 51.4 MB

So, there is no excuse for the burning app to be 675MB(package size for the burning app only) Very Happy

well toast comes with codec and shit no? I never used toast though. Tried it once and it had too many features. You can turn xvids to dvds. etc etc. rip dvds. you can get a shitload of tiny apps that will do all the work in quarter of the size. Razz

Every piece of software is trying to do everything and the buzzword is 'digital life'. They're all trying to present themselves as a one-stop program from where you can control all your 'content'. Fucking buzzwords. Mad

Trying to do everything well they end up doing it mediocrely. But on paper it sounds terrific to the noobs who make up a large portion of the customers. 'OMG, I can control all my digital content from within this program'.
