Ok I'm loosing it!
I have Speedtouch 780wl router (came from my ISP as a default), and my friend and I whant to play CS Source. He brought his laptop and first we tried to connect via crossover and wireless (I have usb wireless) and we connected (I set manually IP adress, made network and in cmd pinged it and it worked). But when we loaded the game and I went to set up the server he couldn't find me.
Ok I thought why don't we connect via my router? Great he connects to it via normal lan cable, I go to router settings (speedtouch.lan) and there you have Game and Application Sharing which looks like this:
So I set up like it says, friend laptop is visible and working. I run CS and set up everything, but he still doesn't see me over lan. I even shut down firewall. What do I have to do? Port forwarding? I just want to play games over lan!!! How to do it??

if your friend brought the laptop then i take it your in the same room as such
if this is the case whether you connect wirlessly or ethernet to the router your on the internal network so the router firewall settings dont come into it.
sounds to me your network settings are not correct or security software is getting in the way
i would plug his laptop into the router as you had done and you do the same and compare both yours and his network settings , cmd -> ipconfig
make sure your both on the same ip range/subnet and if you can ping each other then that should basically be it
take into account asewell what security software you have installed on your pc and laptop ie firewall/internet security software which may be blocking connections

We have both been connected via lan cables, but I forgot to see all of his settings in cmd... I saw him in router properties (his ip and stuff) so I thought we were normally connected...
I thought UPnP should be turned on (I know it has sth to do with utorrent, but I don't know about games )...

Universal PlugNPlay is bad! Very bad! Its like a auto-port forwarder... Very high security risk!
Imagine you get a trojan, which needs to have some ports open for it to fully intrude and open your system up... If UPnP is on, it just auto opens a port for it to use, it wont even notify you the user. Hello wide open system(unless you use a software firewall aswell)

Ok all else has failed...
I bought a switch, nice little air live switch. So I connect my comp, my sisters laptop, and my friends laptop. I was in XP, my sis in win7 and my friend also in XP.
First we made all network setup, we all had same workgroup name.
Then, we were all connected via standard cat5 cables (I don't have two lan ports in my comp, so I didn't bother with connecting us to net, this is only for gaming) to switch. At first I just set that comp automatically sets up IP addresses, and for all 3 comps first two numbers were 169.254.xxx.xxx. and subnet mask was 255.255.0.0 for all. I couldn't ping any comp, but my sis on win7 could see all the comps and switch (!).
Then I set up manually IP addresses to 169.254.0.1 ,0.2, and 0.3 respectively and subnet mask to 255.255.0.0. I left DNS and default gateway blank. Now I could ping all the comps, but I couldn't access them, and the lap from my friend and my sis could see each other and send files normally. Sharing was enabled and all.
When I connected my win7 and my sisters win7 I just plugged the cables and it worked like charm.
Could this be windows problem, because I did everything right! Why won't it work??
