Ok, so I got my new computer and while playing Counter-Strike Source the computer restarts after about 30-50 minutes of playing.
What could cause this?

Is there a blue screen or just a restart. Chances are it's either a malfunctioning piece of hardware or overheating. Do some temp tests with your GFX card. Make sure your heatsink is properly seated on the CPU. Do some memory tests to make sure the sticks are stable etc.

GTX 260's the main problem as i see, since it consume hella lot of PSU...i've got a 550W PSU i think also now but the GTX260 SUCKS LOTS
Do me a favour,go to this site http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp ,fill the required places more or less with what you have CONNECTED (not empty, put the stuff u have connected!,if u kno' what i mean..if ya have 4 SATA slots and usin 1 harddrive, just put 1 harddrive Sata)
Afterall, press the Calculate button and show us the "W"attage result..my PC just needs around 400W in total usin' an 8800GT.

550W PSU is fine for a 260 unless he has a lot of HD's.
It could be several things, but most likely a hardware issue. Are you OCing?

After a rough estimate it is on about 345 W, but I might have gone wrong somewhere.
I am not overclocking.

If you recently updated your drivers try downgrading. If not try updating them. If that's not it then try to uninstall windows updates. If that doesn't work then check the temps and voltages on your components to see if they are too high while playing. If not then if you have other parts to test with then try different memory, different CPU or even different mobo.
Before you even do that get prime95 and leave it on for a day or so. If it crashes then it's probably memory/cpu/motherboard/failing PSU. If it doesn't crash it leaves the video card or even in an unlikely case the HD.

don't ever go by those PSU calculators. They don't do shit. Especially for video cards, which it's main concern is amps on the 12v rail

First thing to do in order to make sure it's not a BSOD disappearing fast, go to System Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery settings and untick Automatically Restart. If you still get restarts without BSODs, my best guess would be the PSU.

Wait, it first restarted, then you got the BSOD? When? During the boot or after the desktop was loaded?

Restarting computers normally means something is overheating.

There should be a minidump created, you can analyze it with windbg to find out which driver was at fault, this might give you a hint as to what hardware is broken or what driver should be updated.

How is this done? If you wouldn't mind linking to a guide or explaining i'd really appreciate it.
thanks.

Be sure to get the right debugging tools (x86 or x64, the guide only mentions x86). |
Alright, read through it and it seems quite easy.
However how do I know which to use? the x86 or x64?
I presume it has to do with the CPU, I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400.

Further down in that blue screen there may be a filename. Did you notice anything like that?

ks.sys = Kernel Streaming, it's a driver for streaming audio/video.
Suggestions: uninstall video driver and use a driver cleaner, reboot, install the latest drivers for your graphics card and see if it is still happening.
EDIT: found this:
Quote: | The file ks.sys is a Microsoft Kernel CSA Library system driver. The primary cause of the BSOD ks.sys was known by Microsoft to have some problems and was apparently corrected in Vista SP1. Do you have Vista and did you install SP!?
Another suggestion is to uninstall the sound card drivers completely and reboot the PC and reinstall it again. |
EDIT2:
Quote: | Ks.sys is part of the AVstream function (some support files for multimedia applications, this error is probably caused by the gfx or sound driver. |

Boot up in safe mode before you run this.
DRIVER SWEEPER
After that (still in safe mode) clean Registry with
CCLEANER
