Was there any way to change the tilt(?) of the camera, I can't even play this game with the camera locked pointing almost straight down.

I think this was mentioned already earlier, but don't blame me, blame the missing 'search this thread' feature. Razz

I found the way to put the camera like this in sacred 2 forums . . .

I just know that i have a file called "optionsCustom.txt"
In the folder "C:\Users\Felipe\AppData\Local\Ascaron Entertainment\Sacred 2" (!!Vista 64!!)
The contents of this file are:

camera.customsettings = 1
camera.cam1_trackdist_min = 120
camera.cam1_trackdist_max = 2000
camera.cam1_rotx_min = -0.30


And you have to mark the "Free Camera" in Gameplay>Options

You can move/rotate the camera with the middle mouse button, aka mouse 3, if i am not wrong . . .

If after all this, you still can not get to work, take a look at the sacred 2 forums ( official forums )

Thanks a lot, just tested and works perfectly!

Don't suppose there's a way to increase draw distance? This is a minor nag compared to the camera issue, but the fog starts pretty close from your character.

Edit: Reading the official forums, the limited draw distance seems more like a hardcoded engine limitation than something you could adjust by yourself. Pity, but like I said, not nearly as much of an issue than the stupid limited camera view was.. Can finally start playing this game properly. Smile

Yea, fog seems to be hardcoded in the engine . . .

But i have seen some items with a "Visibility Range" mod, not sure if this will increase the fog distance . . .

The logbook mess is killing me, what a retarded design. Very detailed world and a good game, but some things are just irritang as hell.
Is it me or is the item drop rate a bit skewed? I'm only level 24, yellow items drop all over the place. What is also weird is that most of the uber items dropped are unusable by my temple guardian. I keep seeing thse great shields and swords (I went for hafted weapons). Is it supposed to be like this (maybe a way of making easy money?) or am I extremely unlucky for some reason?

yes - it sometime work that way - doesnt matter lvl or buff/CA version - on enetering server there is roll that sepcify how the doppel work during that sesion

Well, got my inquisitor to level 30 and I'm on the Seraphim island.
Anyone know how close I am to beating it?

Getting pretty burned out on it at this point. The voices. . . ugh. Especially some of the creature voices.
Was funny at first but boy they get on my nerves.
The whole game just feels kinda. . . clunky. Like, when i go to cast a spell, sometimes I have to right click several times before it goes off and the spell is ready.
And some of the stats for items make little sense to me. Like one yellow item that isn't as good as a blue item I have will sell for quite a bit more. . . I dunno.
Guess I'm just suffering from burnout.

And aren't mounts supposed to fight when your on them? I can't tell if the spider mount is or not.

There are 10 chapters to the main quest.
You are on chapter 4.

mainquest - depend on character - mine took ~15 hrs

if you want try complete every quest in game ... well i gave up after 40 or so ;p

Well just got it, not bad at all really. The world is HUGE, it's just fun running through it killing everything you see.

The quests however, feel reaaaally repetitive, up to a point where you just click accept as soon as you see the button. This is doesn't have to be bad, killing 20x of these because of reason x, it's all the same. The problem is the journal where all quests are stored. It feels so clunky and useless its hard to keep track of anything, especially because there is no option to hide quests that are done etc.

2.34.2 server version - not released outside the closed net (it fixed some things but ascaron doesnt provide full changelog yet)

PhysX patch being worked on, seems it can use multiple CPU cores after all but current CPU's aren't effective enough for the many particle effects and similar that's possible with PhysX so performance tanks.

my x2 4400 handles it all just fine with everything maxed out

I gained about 10 FPS switching the physx to my cpu

Bah...I spent hours trying to install/patch this thing to 2.34 (UK), but the patch does an md5 check and reports that files have been changed and refuses to install. This happens with a clean install, no cracks and official incremental patches. The funny thing is, it's happening to lots of people that actually bought the game, regardless of US/UK version or OS used.

There are endless threads about uninstalling/reg cleaning/reinstalling/installing different patches from different servers, etc. Nothing works.

Wasn't the Uk patch broken? At least one of the patches was a bit odd but it's strange it hasn't been fixed yet, mentioned earlier in this thread as well I believe.
(Have to go to the previous patch first and then the newest available update.)
