a compilation of all the tv and radio commercials and shows would be cool. my only regret with gta is that i didn't get to see/hear all the jokes they crammed into it. maybe a replay will be in order during the eventual dry spells of '09 Smile

The official 8.12 drivers are still the most recent, 9.1 (That's January 2009 in case anyone wonders about the 8.13 drivers.) should be released mid January but I'm not totally sure about that date. (Said to increase performance a bit in some of the recent titles.)

http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx

There's also a 8.12 hotfix beta available, fixes Crossfire issues with the 4850 card.

i installed the latest nvidia drivers and noticed a performance DEcrease
however, overclocking my cpu from 2.4 -> 3.0 gave a noticable boost (which is odd as it's a quad-core.. i would have expect a game like this to be multithreaded
also, doing the same as with ass creed, turning 'render frames ahead' to 0 helps some

Game is very CPU dependent as shown in various benchmarks (I posted a few from the PCGamesHardware site quite a while ago.) so even a quad-core Core2 or the new I7 will see performance increases if you up the clock speed a bit, won't notice a big difference with the top-end CPU's though as those are already very highly clocked.
(3.0 Ghz to 3.2 Ghz I believe, I use a somewhat older but still very powerful QX6850 processor myself which works pretty well and this is like the only game that actually pushes that CPU.)

Another version of a XLive wrapper, built on the previous one. ( http://blog.gib.me/ ) but with some extra functions like a Social Club disabler and ASI loader (Scripts and such.)

As with the other one this utility does disable multiplayer to prevent people from hacking/cheating though I guess it wouldn't have worked that well anyway without Social Club and LIVE running.

And example of what could be done with scripts would be this trainer here.
http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=387974
(Other possibilities include all sorts of functions as the script functions are very versatile.)

What ping do you have to your friend? Since GoW had that ping above 30(?) block?

why hamachi? I can see an ingame option for lan-games... I thought hamachi was only needed if you want to play over internet but the game not having an online mode. gta iv offers both lan and internet gaming options... So why use hamachi if you're playing offline (Lan) anyway? guess i'm kind of confused Confused

Hamachi = able to LAN over the internet. If you're gonna LAN together the normal way you shouldn't need anything.

gta4's live restricts internet games to 25ms ping
i guess one antipiracy method for network play would be to set it at 1ms or so, which only exists in a lan

Don't know, I was so much willing to give Vista a go. So much willing. I had Vista 32-bit installed on my computer for quite some time, and when I installed GTA 4 I was in all kinds of trouble. CTD's, the driver having stopped responding, piss-poor performance.

Then during the holidays, I tried installing on my father's PC which has an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 and a GeForce 9800GT, running Windows XP 32-bit. And guess what? The game was fully playable, good performance, no crashes whatsoever, no BSODs, nothing.

That got me thinking, so I erased Vista and got XP running again. And my oh my. The performance is great even though I don't have the settings pretty high, just high enough to not encounter pop-ins and still have decent graphics and framerate, and I'm getting a constant >30FPS everywhere with the 180.48s and the 181.00s.

So, sorry, but either Microsoft is at fault, or NVidia is. And I don't care really. I want games to just work, and I don't have that much time to waste on just messing around to get them to work with hacks and command line switches and so on. On XP, for me at least and on my current rig, GTA4 just works. And it works smoothly.

Sorry for asking, but I'm just getting a bit confused. I want to play GTA over wireless Lan with a friend. The game offers a Lan multiplayer option.

I thought playing gta over lan doesn't need any internet at all (just a LAN, in my case Wlan), so the issues with windows live and RSN should not apply. But still, any game I host can't be seen by my friend. Is this because the game is cracked, or might it be a firewall issue, or do I need Hamachi even when I want to play only over Lan?

It does look like a bunker, I can tell from the bricks and from seeing quite a few bunkers in my time.
