What happened to good old books? I have read maybe two books on my comp, It just isn't the same as holding the book in your hands...

+1
i can understand the point of always having a small library with you and being able to get a new book from anywhere, but 360 bucks for the device alone? no way. besides, the books you buy are kinda "stuck" in the kindle - DRM at it's best.
if you want to read books for free or pdfs on the can, get a pda/pocketpc with a decent screen.

If I read anything i fall asleep...ok maybe not NFOhump, but books etc. I just use my trusty iPod full of audio books and lectures etc. Still fall asleep after a while...but it takes a tad longer
But I read somwhere that the Kindle is one of Amazons most popular gadgets.

Naw, those suck for reading.
Cap:
Go to http://www.mobileread.com - the site and their forums are a good resource for these, I'd check it out and research all of them with their pros/cons before you decide. Kindle seems pretty crappy overall to me, I'm considering the Sony Reader (PRS-505, don't need the touch screen of the newer 700 series) myself.
