The word gaming is in inverted comma's as I don't really want a machine capable of playing the latest and greatest, I simply want something I can play the odd RTS on and World Of Warcraft. I'm looking to spend under £700 and want something between 0-15" the smaller the better.

I found the following today and went to buy it only to find they had non in stock, not sure if its the best for the price (as I didn't shop around, it was an impulse buy) but this will at least give you guys an idea of what I'm after.

Throw some ideas at me!

Lenovo, if all your doing in mmo and old RTS than an R60 (or T60) would be fucking perfect. I got my R60 for like 400 bucks with a core duo and can run a decent amount of 3d games.

The 9200M GS would be great if all you want to do is play WoW and an RTS here an there. It will probably be able to run everything else on medium settings on 640x480, which is fine for the 14"-15" monitors of laptops.

Since WoW is your main focus you should know that the game is HEAVILY dependent on a CPU, while GPU is almost irrelevant for it. That's because the game was designed to run fairly well on a huge variety of systems of the past, when very few laptops or even desktops had proper GPUs. So your best choice is to get a lappy with the most CPU power you can afford, while GPU is secondary when it comes to WoW.

Im playing Runes of Magic and Open Arena with my work laptop; a pretty cheap Lenovo.
Well, not that those games need any uber PC ^^

I think this new gaming laptop from Toshiba is pretty good:

First look:

it has e-sata and USB ports that can be active when the computer is turned off ^^

netshop.no sells it for 13.500,- Very Happy

I saw it in the shop when I went looking today, its so fucking ugly.. and its huge.. and its just pointless.. Man, worst looking pile of tech I've ever seen. Still, got some nice specs Razz.

I had my eye on the following:

Viao and Packard Bell

Anyone have any opinions on them? The difference is obviously that the Sony is much bigger, has blueray and a more powerful CPU. Still, I don't really want a massive laptop. I'll be doing a lot of development work on the thing though, so it might be a good idea to have something more powerful and spacey.. Thoughts?

Haha, last time I looked it wasn't looking too decent, but I'm keeping my eyes out.[/url]

I wouldn't buy anything from sony or HP. The amount of their computers I've had to fix sky rockets over compaqs and anything else. My buddy's Viao would go down monthly. HP is just a cheap wal*mart brand.

Lenovo > Asus > Dell for laptops.

I grabbed the Sony Vaio VGN-SR19VN today, its pretty awesome and it plays WOW well enough for my needs (for when I'm away on business). I installed Vista 64bit Ultimate over the default of Vista Business 32bit which went very well aside from the custom buttons not working correctly (or at all rather) in 64bit, Sony have almost 0 support for 64bit OS's which is really stupid considering they're selling systems with 4gb of ram.

Still, everything else works and I'm really happy with it. Loving the fingerprint scanner too lol..

It's not just Sony. All the laptop manufactures more or less are like that, almost no support for OS other than the one it comes with. My bro got Asus lappy with 4GB ram a month ago and it's the same story. Vista 32bit is default OS and there is no support for vista64bit on asus website.

Sony do provide a website with all of the 64bit drivers on, they just dont actively advertise it. I managed to get drivers for all of the hardware directly from Sony without any issues at all, they even provided support for the finger print scanner!

Finished setting it all up now, custom skin, logon.. got the finger print scanner filling in all of my logon details online! Awesome stuff! I may never touch my desktop machine again.
