Quote: | Any info on how the multiplayer campaign will be handled? The only way I can see it work is if the battles are auto-resolve only, I could be wrong though.
Oh and hope they don't skimp on the AI now that multiplayer's in, a lot of companies seem to do that, except Stardock which is why I freakin love them. Very Happy Here's a thought, maybe CA should hire Stardock to do the AI... |
multiplayer should be very good so i have read anyway it will use steamcloud for online saves and steamworks function. some news here

It's not the voice that's annoying, it's the 'funny' anti-british comments that made me turn the sound off.
Why do people, who usually have no sense of humor, consider themselves obligated to share their wit with other people I'll never know.

with steam and steamworks SDK features it will be better that in Rome. from steam with this suite of tools the graphic engine can be easy changed

Q6600 and 8800 GTX is just mainstream nowadays and the game most likely still has to undergo some optimization before it's released.
Q6600 is 2 years old, and 8800 GTX is even older, so expecting that seriously outdated hardware to run a game that isn't even out yet at max settings or stuff like that is crazy.
So.. it's probably gonna get a bit better, but not a lot. Medium settings with that hardware would be perfectly acceptable. It's not a fast paced shooter where you need 50+ fps at all times to accomplish anything anyway...

Yep this is true, but here in Italy a Q6600+8800GTX is still seen as an high end system... .Anyway, as you said, some optimization will surely come and even at 20+ fps the game will be fully playable. (I was only thinking at those "full-max-aa16x-settings" slaves...eheh)

No there is a huge difference. Even between unreal engine 2 and 3 there is huge difference, here its even bigger.
Shogun and MTW were made on same engine. Looking from pure strategic and tactical view, it was superior to Rome game engine. It was also better optimised for normal gameplay and even more for network. In both you could play large 4vs4 online battles with larger unit sizes than in Rome engine games, all that on pre-war 45k modems! At the same time Rome engine games aren't nearly as optimised. One user with bad connection (and bad here is 1000kb/s) or one user with bad cpu, low ram, or even weak graphical card was enough to stall everyone else. And even on optimal settings people could only get as much as 3vs3 battles with lowest possible unit sizes. That means, less users on field with less men per unit with weaker tactical options. Only difference was that whole thing processed individual unit animations that were unnoticed on any usable camera zoom.
Even developers themself said that they couldn't optimise MTW2 to be better played on network because of restrictions with the game engine. Thats why we were promised new game engine. And by the first look of it (again only by the look of it!), we will not get that.

Ok, get Medieval Total War 2 and its expansion, Kingdoms to see what its about.
Its THE BEST strat game out there. No game can compete.
I love colonization too, but its nothing like TW games. And Empire is gunna fuckin be sooooo good.
This is a game to buy for sure (hence ive already bought it lol ).

Was going over Steam today and saw they added "empire: total war elite units" A 20 dollar DLC that gives you 6 special types of units. I can understand DLC, but 20 dollars for 6 new units? Come the fuck on.

Not really interested in the multiplayer part of the game because there's a chance I might lose against someone, and that's something my frail ego can't handle.
