Hi, I am wondering if something's wrong with my console or is it the fault of games/media/Jews/whatever?

1. Gears of War 2. Downloaded, burnt on Verbatim, played. After NXE (but I don't think this is the reason) the game hangs up, always in the same moment (intro, logos) and I get the message to clean the disk. I burnt the same image again on a fresh Verb, and it is exactly the same, hangs up at the same moment.

2. NFS Carbon - can't get past the menus, locks up the console on signing into the profile.

Help.

did you try loading them while plugged into the internet to see if there are updates?

Yes, the updates to GoW2 have been downloaded. It's funny because 've actually finished the game and had absolutely no problems with it, until recently. And it's the only game with this "clean dvd" message. Carbon just freezes and I suspect it might be something with the image, although I checked it with Dvd Mulleter and corrected the video files.

maybe it's not the console then? or is it the same disc you've used before to play through ... I've only gotten those messages when using non-verb discs/my first shitty burner...

thinking though you've already thought of that Wink

I don't know if this is relevant, but have you checked the layerbreak settings when you burned the DVD? Whenever i burn a xbox game i use IMG burn, with a preset layerbreak.

Well, I am getting out of ideas.

To make myself clear again - I played GoW2, burned on the Verbatim and finished it - no problems at all. One day, using the same copy I got that message. I thought it might have been something with the disk, so I made an ISO of it, with IMGburn and burned the image on another Verb and the problem persists. While loading the game I get - at the same moment - a slight glitch while playing the EPIC intro and than it hangs. Is it possible that the ISO image from the defecting disk is somehow corrupt? I am downloading a different image now and see if it helps.

Yes, download it again. Creating an image of the scratched disc doesn't make the lost/corrupt data reappear you know Smile

Spasiba, comrade Wink

There is still issue with NFS Carbon though. But, since I've got Most Wanted and Undercover, I dunno if it makes any sense to bother.

I remember times, when copying and corrupt Amiga disk with X-Copy somehow worked.

Well, downloading again and burning the new one seems to have done the job. No luck with Carbon - can't find a different release.

why not just dump your disc and re-burn it with the corrected layer , worked for me

You mean with Carbon or in general? How do I do it then? And again - is Carbon worth the fuss, since I have Most Wanted, Pro Street and Undercover Smile

1.get IMGBURN
2.create a image
2a. if you have problems in making this image set in tools>Write>Layer Brake> user specified "1913760"
3.check the Iso you made with Xbox_Backup_Creator_v2.8.0.275
3a. check the iso in Image>Stealth Check
3b. add SplitVid with Convert to SPlitvid
4.check iso with XDVDMulleterBeta10.2
4a. option auto fix
5.check the iSO again with ABGX 360 - 0.9.4 for angle 359 bug and for possible game data corruption
6.after all check well run XDVDMulleterBeta10.2 and pick the create .DVD file option
6a.open it with NotePad or similar TXT editor and check if the image name is correct and if the layer brake is 1913760
7. RUN IMGBURN
7a."Write Image to disc" pick drive , open .dvd
7b.burn image with set tools>Write>Layer Brake> user specified "1913760"
7c. in Tools>Drive>BookSettings> "your drive" change the book settings to "DVD-ROM"
7d.Burn this in 2,4x or on 4x (recommended is 2,4x)
8.play

Seems more like a 360 problem. Could be that your having a failing DVD drive or your 360 is coming to the point of no return. 3ROD. Here is another thing to check, open up your 360 and clean it out.

Dust can be a major problem for the 360. I know because my 360 started locking up a few months ago. Cleaned it out and that solved my problems.

Well, but it hangs up on the exactly same moment in this one game.

As for RROD - it's Falcon, and it does not seem to be very hot while playing. Might be something with the drive though - how to fix it?

There is another way but getting the key off your drive and putting it on another one would probably be the best way.

I get this problem with both originals and copies of Tom Clancies HAWX.

Freezes in the same place but not every time (i.e. 80% freezes).
I installed to the harddrive else I get 100% freezes.

Can't work out why, tried the cache clear. Most odd.
